I like the look of this pen, but it's not very sturdy. Within two weeks of having this pen, my oaf of a best friend pulled the cap off of this like a normal pen and completely destroyed the plastic screw-on pieces. It is now a slip-on cap... I might save your money and invest in something sturdier.
I've had this pen for a while now but not written much with it until recently. I have mixed reactions: I like the look of the pen and how it feels in my hand, but I'm not impressed with how it writes, at least with the included Monteverde cartridges.
I had a great deal of trouble getting it to start writing at first, and had to flush water through the nib several times using the converter before I could get ink to flow. Once I got it working, I find that the ink flow can't easily keep up with my writing, no matter how quickly or slowly I write. I also find the Fine nib a bit scratchy on Moleskine paper, and the lines much thinner than my fine point pens from Pelikan, MontBlanc, LAMY, or Parker. I'm considering seeking warranty service to see if anything can be done to address the issues I'm having, though I'm going to give it a little more time to see if it gets any better with further use.
All things considered, I probably wouldn't buy another Monteverde pen (especially given the markedly mixed reviews I'm seeing here).
Got my pen a week ago, nice pen, writes like shit lol. Why is every "expensive" pen I get on here, write worse then my 7$ Metropolitan Pilot? It's scratchy, it sometimes stops writing, just ugh. Also is it possible to replace the NIB with a fine one?
EDIT: I see that was already answered on previous page, I'll look into gouletpens.

The Montverde Fine is almost twice the thickness.
Hi msssdrop, I received the package but it came with one unit instead of two. Can someone respond to my enquiry / email please as I sent days ago.
The pen is great, beautiful and smooth to write. Highly recommended!!
Hi All ... Mine arrived today (20/05/16) in Australia .. nice pen, I like the finish on it although it didn't really look the same as the photo (Carbon Fiber isn't the easiest thing to portray in a photo).. good weight.. not inked up yet, so we will have to wait and see, Monteverde can be touch and go at times.
Received my pen over the weekend. Took a few tries to fill the converter, but it filled fully once engaged with the ink (Pelikan ink). It took a few minutes and some swabbing to get the ink to flow, but once it started my pen has been ready to write each time it has been uncapped. I note that some aren't happy with the materials. I think the carbon fiber look has some depth to it. The pen is light and easy to hold. I got the fine nib, and after a few lines it has smoothed out nicely. At first, I thought it might have been a bit too fine, but it's writing well. You don't need much pressure to get ink to paper. I'm very pleased at this price.

Are these compatible with #6 nibs?
ithrow6s
Yep, GouletPens confirms that they're an easily replaceable #6.
Received mine today, and my first impression was that the packaging was wonderful for a pen at this price! However, the threads on the barrels were pretty scratchy while uncapping, and there were many tell-tale signs of the manufacturing process on it.
There is more friction to the nib than other fountain pens I'm used to, but that's not to say it's a bad thing - it forces me to write at a more controlled rhythm, allowing for greater consistency and form.
On the whole, the pen is beautifully designed, and I am very pleased with what I got. Thanks Massdrop!
Nerraruzi
I too noticed the scratchiness when unscrewing the barrel =/
Overall though the pen is great for the price ! Ive got mine filled with the J Herbin Emerald De Chivor and its a great combo with the pen and 1.1 nib =D

Beautiful, Hefty, but not weighty, Bold, Wet Lines...Perfection!
WOW! Just arrived. Never used a "Stub" nib before. It is beautiful and writes fabulously straight from the box. Thank you.
How long do i have to wait? Even I living in S.KOREA Mssdrop's delivery time is so long.

Been using this the past few nights as work just to scribble and mess around. The fine nib ended up being a little broader than my taste would like, but nothing really compares to Pilot's fine nibs, so this isn't a huge surprise.
Ink flow is fine, and I also noticed how translucent the pen was, but I kind of like it. Paired with shin-ryoku, this pen is actually quite lovely, and the most ornamental pen I've bought thus far. I like it, but it certainly doesn't beat out my Diplomat Traveler for a daily driver, and especially one I'd carry around in my bag, but it's a nice piece overall
My pen just arrived earlier today. Overall, mixed feelings.
I wouldn't go as far to say that it's not worth the ~$30 I put into it. However, if I had bought the pen at the MSRP more towards $70, I'd feel a lot more negatively.
The pen is constructed of a lot thinner and lighter materials than I thought when purchasing the pen. This isn't exactly a minus, but it's certainly not a plus. The cap and body are almost see-through in the lighter sections. I sort of assumed by the look of it that it would be a thicker, more substantial material. Still, the pen looks nice, feels just about as heavy as it should for its size, and the screw-on cap is nice and weighty. The shape, color, and clip are just about as they appear, otherwise.
However, the real drawbacks come in the writing performance. The nib really sucks. I'm not sure if it's just my model, but it's all of the things I don't like in a nib. It's scratchy, has an _insane_ amount of drag, and just feels like you're writing on sandpaper no matter what surface or paper you're writing on.
I maintain that the $3.50 Jinhao 599A I bought still writes better than any other pen I own. This just solidified that statement.
I've spent the better part of the afternoon trying to smooth the nib out with paper bags and nail files (I don't have any micro mesh, so I can't try something quite that fine out) to no avail. The pen still feels like bad chalk on a sidewalk, and drags so much that I can't very well close letters because the pen catches on the paper so consistently.
I might in the future try replacing the nib (as far as I know, any #6 nib will do here. Might try a Goulet nib on it, and see how that works) but I'm not inclined to dump another $16 into this when I have other pens that write well.
Overall, I love the aesthetics of the pen. They weren't what I expected, but they ended up looking and feeling very appealing to me. But I can't justify to myself taking around a semi-expensive pen with which I hate writing when a near-disposable Jinhao takes the cake in every regard in terms of writing.
I'll give the pen a few more chances. Who knows, maybe I just need to break in the nib and smooth it out over the course of writing with it? But if it stays the way it is (I sincerely don't think the texture of paper is going to do much more to smooth the tip out given that its supposed to be made of a highly durable metal, and even a nail file couldn't do much for me) I can't say I'll be using the pen for much more than decoration.
Anyone else having a similar experience?
Crecker
What size nib did you choose? I have enough pens in fine and medium, so I picked up the 1.1 mm stub both times in this drop, and the only problem I have is that if I have more than a few sentences to write, the feed doesn't keep up and needs a moment to get ink down to the nib again.
Funny though, every Jinhao I've owned has given me tons of trouble. Different pens suit different people!
Buy the Goulet micro mesh and mylar papers before buying a new nib though. Those can work wonders on a difficult pen.
Crecker
mine was nothing special either. the medium nib was scratchy, and the body cookie cutter to the core, and for the price i could have gotten something a lot nicer. after 2 overpriced duds i think that all in all Monteverde is just a crappy company, the corner cutting and high prices attest to that.

Just received the shipping notification email for the resin! Pretty pumped to get this one, just ordered some Diamine Meadow to go with it. The turnaround time for this drop was awesome, way to go guys!
Hey all, I got my pen two days ago, but just now got a chance to check it out and ink it up. I joined the first time and got the Jewleria White Carbon Fiber in a 1.1 mm stub. First off, this pen is really nice, flashy, but not gaudy. Materials feel good, grip section is very suitable for me, and despite being a little long when posted, it is quite balanced. The clip is spring loaded, which I enjoy. The stub nib is very, very nice. It flows well with my R&K Cassia and puts down a nice, wet line. The edge is not very sharp, so the line variation is not intense, but the nib is very smooth as a result.
My only qualms are that the grip threading is metal to the cap's threading which is plastic. It works just fine though. Also, my converter came screwed in extremely tight or misaligned, I can't tell, as I did not force it unscrewed. This is something I'll have to solve later.
Overall, great feeling pen and a great writer at the exceptional deal that was offered.
Gonna be adding to my Iroshizuku addiction and getting shin-ryoku just for this pen. I think it would go extremely well with it, and would be a novel color to write things in :)
My Carbon Fiber stub has arrived. (Waiting for the green resin next!)
First impressions: * lightweight compared to my other Monteverde, a stainless steel Invincia. * a little slippery, though that might be because we're in a heatwave and I don't have AC... * does not post well (neither does my Invincia) * stub has a good balance between wet and dry. Doesn't take forever to dry, but wet enough to get nice shading.
Overall very nice, looking forward to additional Monteverdes in my future.
toomanypens
Thanks, @toomanypens. I'm looking forward to receiving my Jewelria. I have a sample of J. Herbin Emerald of Chivor en route as well, to break in the stub-nibbed green pen. It's the little things... P. S. Your name is an oxymoron. ;)
Great news group! The vendor has let us know that the group's order was picked up and is on its way to our warehouse now. Based on the tracking provided these are scheduled to come in 8/28. Our warehouse team has been forwarded tracking info and will be standing by, ready to get these packed up and turned around as soon as they come in.

Thanks for your patience and expect an update from us on 9/1 or sooner if something comes up.
Just noticed that the converter some threads towards the feed.. Does anyone know if this particular converter screws in? I wouldn't think so, seeing that the cartridges look like standard push and plays to me
dbishop
The converter that Monteverde includes is in fact threaded to help keep it seated when you're filling it with ink. Otherwise is accepts standard international cartridges. I believe you can use any standard international converter if the included converter were to break, though you'd likely be better off to pick up a threaded Monteverde converter.
Huh...Apparently they're a lot quicker with this drop than they are with the last pen I bought.
Just got an email that the carbon fiber Jewelria's being shipped out. 11 days early, no less. Unless it's a glitch.
I find the green resin more desirable than the carbon fiber, and would like to know if it is possible to switch to this.
Lonelyers
As this was a drop limited to 115 units for the Resin Jewelria my guess is you'll be unable to switch.
so anyone know why this wasn't available for shipping to Mexico? I already asked but the question was ignored.
I was kind of bummed about waiting too long to grab a TWSBI ECO 1.1 and having them all out of stock, then this drop comes along with a beautiful pen with a stub! Now I've just gotta pick up some green ink and I'll be set.

Hey there, I got a payment error and fixed the issue, but the payment status still says error and support hasn't responded... What can be done? :(
