Moondrop is one of the few Chinese IEM studios I can whole-heartedly recommend. Most of their IEMs and earbuds focus on what they refer to as "water-style tuning." (Moondrop's chinese name 水月雨 literally translates as "Water, Moon, Rain") Summed up in one sentence, it's a romantic style that emphasizes ultra-smooth mids with slightly rolled off treble to take off the edge and it's a vocal-lover's dream. This is not a common style of tuning for Western brands and closest comparison I can think of is probably the JH Angie. The Kanas Pro is closer to the neutral than some of their other offerings but the philosophy is the same. It's not super detailed but the timbre and soundstage are excellent and and it's tuning makes it a joy to listen to when you just want to relax and enjoy the music. Couple that with the visibly excellent build quality and fit and you have a winner. I was wondering when Moondrop would finally it's debut on MD, and I'm glad they went with this one as some of their cheaper IEMs are not as complete. Hopefully, we will see what I consider the best (considering price and performance) in their product line, the Liebesleid at some point. Bassheads need not apply but for everyone else, this is a great IEM at a good price that is definitely worth a listen.

ccm220The Blessing was actually offered here on MD a couple months ago but I think only a few joined in on the drop. I suspect probably because of Moondrop not being well knowned outside of Asia. I got mines from AliExpress during the 11.11 sale lower than what's offered here and truly enjoy them. Despite having other iems way above this price point, somehow the kanas pro has been my daily driver till today. It's one of the few iems I've heard that gave me a significant wow impression upon first listen.

rodizzleI don't remember seeing it, can't even find the page or any search off google either but anyways, that's besides the point. I absolutely agree; There's just something about the way Moondrop's products sound that goes beyond following the Harman Target. I gave away my KPEs when the Blessing came out and I regularly reach for the Blessing and Liebesleid over much more expensive headphones and IEMs. I also blindly bought the A8 at launch but unfortunately, it didn't really impress. It sounded nice but disappointing for an 8 driver and I ended up selling it. Their new Solis (6BA+2 E-stats) looks promising, although I'll probably look for demo this time around.

ccm220Your explanation on the sound of the Kanas Pro is spot on. Out of my lineup of earphones, I like to pickup the Kanas Pros when I want enjoy the punchy sound or just want to relax. I'm used to hearing music from speakers and headphones so I prefer Dynamic Driver earphones. Other earphones I own are the Sony MDR-EX1000, Ocharaku Flat4, Ocharaku Donguri & Audeze iSine 10. I also have the BGVP DMG & TFZ Secret Garden HD on the way from Massdrop.

WHO23Always nice to see another fan of Ocharaku. I remember meeting the owner, Yamagishi-san, who was super nice and knowledgeable, at Fujiya Headphone Fest a few years ago. They had one of the most modest and obscure booths but I'm so glad I gave them a try. TOTL pure DD performance comparable to some of the best I've listened to from DITA, Hifiman and Campfire. I think you'll like the DMG. TFZ SG1 I was pretty disappointed with, if you've heard TFZ's King Pro or King II it's like they just reskinned the driver and made the SG1 with minimal effort to improve tuning. It's not bad cause the King Pro was pretty good but it felt like being cheated. If it's your first TFZ IEM though, you'll probably be happy with them.

ccm220Ah wow cool, I've never met Yamagishi-san himself but I'm planning to go to stay at Daikanyama sometime this year. I would love visit his Ocharaku store at Setagaya and also stop by at Fujiya Avic. I'm primarily a headphone guy but I just can't resist the functional design of the chassis of the MDR-EX1000, Flat4 & Donguri. I've just recently bought a bunch of Chi-fi IEMs on a whim just to see what innovation has been going on in China. The first to arrive was a VSonic GR07 37AE and I struggled to get the tips to fit properly and when it did, I was disappointed with the sound. When the Kanas Pro arrived, it sounded good right off the bat and I was really satisfied at my purchase. My BGVP DMG has arrived but I'm not a Balanced Armature guy so I can't really make sense of what I'm hearing. Honestly, I bought the TFZ SG1 because I thought it must be a sound upgrade from the highly rated TFZ King Pro and also because it looked good. I'll have 3 IEMs that use Graphene based Dynamic Drivers and I'm curious how it compares to the Kanas Pro & GR07 37AE.

ccm220Hey ccm220, I received the DMG & SG1 and they both look and feel great. The SG1 arrived chipped but I've managed to listen to both IEMs. DMG was just too boomy for me and it interfered with the soft sound of the balanced armatures for the mids. Also treble was slightly off but I can't point to what's wrong. Edit: I switched to gold filter and it's a lot better now. SG1 sounds good. Out of the graphene diaphragm IEMs, Kanas Pro is still the best followed by SG1 then VSonic GR07 37AE. I also recently purchased the Periodic Audio Be which also sounded good.

WHO23Hey, I've been busy travelling for business. I was going to suggest you try the treble filters but I guess you figured that out already :D Anyways, thought I'd share this with you since you love Dynamic drivers. Picked this up during my time in Singapore.

Dita's new project71. Much closer to neutral than Dita's usual V-shaped tuning but the same super fast and powerful bass that blew me away when I first listened to the Dita Dream.

ccm220Ah yes, the treble filters helped a lot. It’s still boomy but at least it doesn’t sound strange anymore. Man the Dita project71 looks great. If it’s neutral then it’ll be something that I’ll like.

ccm220Hi ccm220, I went to CanJam SG 2019 and tried the Dita project71 and were really good. Unfortunately they were sold out by the time I tried them. Right now I'm enjoying my Donguri Kaede that I purchased a few weeks ago, they are amazing for vocals and tuned perfectly for SpinFits. I just ordered the Moondrop Blessing and I'm interested in purchasing the new Moondrop KxxS and/or the Tanchjim Oxygen in the coming weeks.

WHO23Yeah, the project71 first batch went quick from what I heard in SG and China. I had to skip CJ SG this year and went to Shanghai HIFI Headphone Expo instead. Smaller scale but you get much more exposure to Chi-fi brands. I also demo'd the KxxS there. Imo, it sounds very similar to the KPE but with slightly fuller body. Personally, I'm more excited for the Liebesleid 2. I tried the Oxygen on release. They are decent but not quite price-competitive sound-wise; A lot of what you are paying for goes into the build quality which is admittedly, pretty nice. I just don't think they are sonically, an improvement over the KPE, for example.
