I have this and the Survival orange with 12 c27 stainless Sanvik steel. The carbon steel was sharp, able to shave paper, but I stropped it and dulled it ever so slightly, now it is not as smooth as the 12c27 version when cutting paper (which is the sharpest knife I own). Both steels are great, throw excellent sparks from the fire steel. The carbon steel is app 1% carbon, the stainless app 0.6-0.65% carbon. The survival has a larger handle with better ergonomics than some others like Clipper and Robust and HD (which all have 2-2.5 mm blades). Also, the angle of the grind is 23 degrees vs. >=25 degrees for other moras. This is better for splitting wood than a more aggressive grind which may bind. The sheath comes with two dangler options. The diamond sharpener is very course, but good for a field edge. The price is good, better than most. This is very competent bushcraft knife, good for the beginner and the advanced user for a great price. If you are on the fence, I suggest you buy it.
