I got my Moraknives today, and I have to say they are great! I noticed that the rear spine of the blade seems to have been ground down or filed down to form a flat edge--very interesting. I presume this is a factory retrofit--that is, the knives are filed down like this in-house by Morakniv. Maybe to perform better as a fire-starter?

FatestormIn addition to scraping a ferrocerium firestarter, that squared spine can be used to scrape tinder, smooth tool handles, remove bark, make cordage, flesh hides, etc. A squared spine can be almost as useful as the cutting edge.
