Both in the short- and long-term, a dedicated IP security camera is better than one of these things.

JKEverettThe Motorola monitors don't have the highest ratings, but I have yet to find an IP camera that has a sound alert. So unless you can have something with a screen on the entire time (battery killer) and plugged in a baby video monitor is better suited for the application.
