BlakeMorrowIf you don't mind the added ounces the Copper Spur is a better design in many ways and it absolutely has enough room for 3 real people that don't want to snuggle or kill each other if they're trapped in there for a day or two. Definitely won't find the same price on a BA unless you get lucky. The Copper series was heavily redesigned to the new HV models, which have several great improvements but you're looking at $500 I think for the 3 person and if they get any sale pricing it probably won't be until Memorial Day. The new version is very nice now and they shaved a little weight while still giving three people a lot of room, plus those added improvements (door, fabric, livable space inside). Both Copper models have more headroom than the Ghost at the max height point, but that area in the Ghost is much smaller. If you want three people in the Ghost, everyone had better be really skinny with narrow tapered pads if you want heads all at the entrance, or else one person will need to be head-to-foot...won't be able to use rectangular pads at all for three people, either way. Combine that with a single door and single smallish vestibule and it's a situation where it's better for two people, or with three there won't be much room at all for packs or other gear...door is kind of small and that overhang doesn't help with an easy entry or exit. In my opinion, and I believe a couple of reviewers of the 2 person version of this tent agreed, the high cut of the fly on the rear of the Ghost just does not overlap the side walls enough to provide protection in windy rain and because of the tight tapered foot end/walls it doesn't help much with condensation/ventilation either. So a bit more important to choose your site and tent orientation to the wind carefully if you expect rough weather. The overall shape is storm worthy and the framework is enough but the fly cut is a major shortcoming...a weight saving measure that has consequences. There might still be some old versions of the CS3 on closeout but all the old CS models have been on sale for 4-5 months so they're getting harder to find. I personally don't like any of the Ghost models for my needs but I think for the right people in drier alpine environments it can be a winner. As companies, both will usually take care of you if you need repair or parts but BA will do it faster and more cheerfully. I don't mean to knock the Ghost as hard as it sounds and a more fair comparison would be the Fly Creek but to me the Ghost does have a lot of drawbacks outside of its narrower niche. Just my two cents, however.

StepbystepHere's a good review of the Ghost 2 where you can see the rear of the fly. Once I saw that in person last year on the 1 and 2 that was a real deal killer (and a surprise really). BlakeMorrowI own the ba hv ul3 and it is a fantastic tent. Its a freestanding backpacking 3 person tent that can actually fit 3 people and a trail weight of 3.5 pounds... and also easy to set up, light while remaining durable.
While a better comparison would be to the ba fly Creek line; if you're willing to accept the somewhat heavier weight of the hv ul3 it is a much better buy for most applications.
