Awarded Backpacker Magazine’s “Editors’ Choice” award and GearJunkie’s “Best in Show,” the Mountain Hardwear Optic 2.5 tent is made for those who appreciate extra square footage and an open, airy architecture. And if you need room for three, go for the Optic 3.5. Both of these double-wall, freestanding tents are generously sized with a fun twist: full-size doors on adjoining sides that zip away to create an open vista. Plus, various tie-backs for the vestibule allow you to customize your view up to 180 degrees. The dual vestibule design permits dry entry, while two mesh doors with dual-slider zippers make getting in and out a breeze. Along with convenient internal pockets, there’s a reflective color-coded system for easy pitching.
