Are the specs given the same for both the single pole, and the pair?

These poles are one of the better deals I've ever found. You can find various individual reviews online where these are matched up against much more expensive poles and at least hold their own. Obviously they're not perfect or as light as more expensive poles, but this is not a typical "get what you pay for" thing--if you can live with the weight, and you don't have any specific qualms with not having super great grips or any other specific want/need in your trekking pole, (basically if you use your poles casually for hiking/setting up shelters) then these will work great, and are one of the best bang for your buck products I've ever come across.

Are the carbide tips replaceable?

RullagThe actual carbide isn't, but the whole tip assembly is. You can get replacements from a few companies (Black Diamond, Komperdell, etc), remove the old with a dip in boiling water or a heat gun, then put the new ones on.

On the video at 0:36, does the manufacturer really believe the sole utility of the "rubber boots" is "to protect other gear during transport"?

That's some cheap poles! Anyone has experience with this brand?

YuanYuAs a company, Mountainsmith is fantastic and they've been around for decades making mid- to high-quality items. I don't know that they're doing anything other than rebadging these particular poles but they put together a decent product and they will stand behind them 110% if you ever need a part or have an issue. Nice that they put the wider comfortable straps on these. I've only looked at these in person, haven't actually hiked with them, but they seemed pretty normal/sturdy. Might want to clean up any slight roughness on the plastic where it joins the cork if yours have any sprue on them and if you might palm the top of the grips or run your straps tight...normal for any pole/plastic molding really, just takes a moment if needed.

Why are these so cheap?

chazjonesMy guess is that one pole is $21.99, and then the pair is an additional $20. So it's only 'cheap' for the one pole.
