Wondering if I should get a small for my dobie mix, Ginkgo. She's 50 slender pounds.

Very good pack. Much better value than the Ruffwear packs IMO.

I'd love to get one for my ultra sporty 20 lb Rat Terrier, does anyone have similar smaller packs to suggest?

BrofieldWould the small size on this drop not work?

BlueCrownedThe small should work for that terrier. I have a 35lb Boston Terrier I am trying to figure out. Since my Boston has a big ole barrel chest and small legs I think I need to go for the small as well... But I am trying to figure out if the circumference on the chest is enough.

I think I paid $65 for this a year ago locally and still feel like it was a great deal. My 40lb standard poodle doesn't mind wearing the size medium at all and regularly caries her own food, toiletries, and jackets/boots on our hikes. We've been through some rough scrambles and the pack is holding up fine. The lift handle is great for those times when the pup needs a bit of a boost over a boulder.

$37 for 32 liter (Large) capacity? I think I'll be doing a little DIY on one of these for some cheap saddle bags for my bicycle.

BlueCrownedThanks. I splurged and got the new pack. I guess I'll hold onto the other one to lend out or something.

Non-detachable pack pockets from harness? Kills it for me. BWCA trips, I need to be able to remove the pouches but keep harness on quickly between portages and lakes.
Hu, found a image of the permit and it had the same wording. They do the verbal quiz before getting your permit, and maybe I've just interpreted that as "on leash" and they have never bothered to correct me.

doublepedaldylanThanks! I'd have mine on leash if I were on portages during summer--they've never seen someone portaging a canoe and I'm sure it would scare them. Leashes guarantee control. I've only gone to BWCA in the non-quota, self-permit season, so never had those permit quizes. Hoping to go some time this winter as well!

I have two of these. Unlike most packs on the market (including the expensive ones and the custom ones) these sit on the strongest part of the dog's body, not on the dog's back. IMO they're one of the best out there. The small is the only dog pack I've found that's small enough to fit my 40# female Catahoula.

That small you might have to do a DIY project.

uberpestYeah! She's a bit old for it at this point but she's done a lot of big dog things in her life :) we used to bike across town every night with her trotting alongside the bike, most people save that kind of thing for bigger pups.
