While I am all for man toys, these do not get my goose going. Is there really a market for high end spinning tops?

DomRadomYes sir many buy my tops weekly at www.mountaintopsedc.com and get great enjoyment out of them , helping them with everything from boredom to keeping the kids occupied to helping folks rebuild hand eye coordination after a hand or arm injury , I have heard many great things they have done for there owners :) there weirdly addictive to play with.

blake.sanThanks for the insight. As the father of a young boy I can see that this could be a valuable tool to have handy.

DomRadomLol, there are thousands of collectors for high-end spinning tops. It's a thriving online community, and Blake San is an active and respected maker.
Many collectors buy these tops for aesthetics and the appreciation of craftsmanship and design, while others buy them because they're fun to spin. (Precision tops can spin up to 20+ minutes, though 4 to 10 is the standard.) The people and aesthetics of the hobby tend to overlap with the high end EDC community.

DomRadomI thought they were neat and appreciated the engineering of them at first. Never thought I'd put much thought or money into spinning tops; then I bought one. You really have to see and experience one to appreciate it. I get distracted easily, so spinning one in my room while I get ready keeps me on track. Every 6-16-10min I have to go reset the spin, which keeps me from getting sidetracked. Plus just spinning them is awesome. They're beautiful when they level out and seem to float, suspended in the air.

driftingarrowHey driftingarrow - do you think you could post some links to some of the online communities? I did a quick search but was only able to find a small forum about yo-yo style tops but nothing for finger spinners. Thanks a bunch!

Warlock983Sure. The main hub is Pocket Top Talk on Facebook <https://www.facebook.com/groups/pockettoptalk/>. From there, you'll find links to individual maker groups. Some examples are the popular BilletSpin tops <https://www.facebook.com/groups/391445661039396/> and this Massdrop's maker group, Mountain Tops EDC <https://www.facebook.com/groups/1034639619933603/>.
