The more Mavado's simple design becomes further simplified, the more boring the watch becomes. I salute those who find this watch attractive/desirable, and despite the zillions of other watches competing in this price range, are still willing to fork over $439 for it. Better you than me.
I've got a 2004 Movado SE that needed a rebuild in 2016 only because I chose to do local watch battery replacements, instead of sending it out and getting it water tight. I've been happy with the quartz model, build quality is excellent. I've sold jewelry in the past, watches included. The price is attractive and direct to factory service is inexpensive IF it does break on me. Bought a leather strap for a change of pace.
One of the few Movados I actually like.
I imagine they realized the "museums" were a little old fashioned and popped out the "bold" line, which overshot the mark for me.
This walks the line between classic and contemporary and the specs check a ton of boxes. Dial decoration is just busy enough, and in the right ways.
