It is about time sellers of multimeters were prosecuted for selling meters with "CAT III" and "CAT IV" on the front when they have no such protection.
We get that you are aping the look of a Fluke. That's just marketing. Copying the appearance of safety ratings however is a dangerous lie.
aeberbachHi aeberbach,
We are currently asking for clarification on the "CAT III" and "CAT IV" descriptions and how these units are rated as such.

So after reading about this meter, it is specifically made for low voltage applications.
This looks like a great meter for low voltage stuff, but don't use it for high voltage. (anything 3 phase, or over 240 single phase) Most of the meters from China aren't properly constructed for safety.
I use this meter https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7BpODKbTyZE for working at home, since it will be fine with 120 AC, or any of my DC work, and it is accurate. But in the video, he explains why it's unsafe for some professional work. Which, I do work professionally on AC 3 phase systems, 208-600v. In those situations I only trust fluke meters.
AdragontattooI've been looking everywhere for info on the PeakMaster. I keep finding Mastech which I know isn't too bad. How are they different? What the hell is going on? Is the PeakMaster an even more of a knock-off?
My cheapo multimeter died some time ago, the LCD sortof crumbled away, and now I need one to measure crossover capacitors. ...But if this one is an indication, it says capacitance accuracy within 3%, but how useful is that when close tolerance capacitors are +-5% and electrolytics typically 20% or 10%?
KatjiAny cheap meter can measure capacitance or relative capacitance that's a basic function.
It also doesn't say " capacitance accuracy " it says "capacitance measurement" and if I remember correctly the NIST Calibration Standards doesn't measure capacitance in % but kHz so that is probably just "pretty speak" to make it sound cool.
AllanAVOr their sister site for $44.20. Plus you can get 10 $5 coupons pretty easy, I forget how...might be verifying your email or something. Though I'm sure both sites do all sorts of do this or that for whatever discounts.
