How did they manage to make a VA panel that has a 178 degree viewing angle? I thought the most significant disadvantage for them is the acceptable viewing angle? How is a IPS or OLED panel better than VA panels?

HyperusI believe you're thinking about TN panels. VA panels are an attempt to bridge the gap between the speed of a TN with the colors of an IPS. The primary issue with them is that they can have ghosting issues.
Also, I don't believe we'll be seeing OLED monitors any time soon. (I really would love if they made them though.)

HyperusLike any technology, manufacturers improve their process over time to produce higher quality products. While the viewing angle is improved, it still suffers greater washout effect than IPS at the same angles. BUT this is a PC monitor for gaming, its probably unlikely you will share the viewing experience with another person or look at it from a steep angle. The more important improved features of the VA panels are response time from 5ms to 1ms and refresh rate from 60hz to 144hz. The less important but great to have feature is the inherently deeper blacks than IPS.
As for OLED, it has the deepest blacks and even better viewing angle. There isn't one available on the market because they're super expensive, if you use TV's for comparison its several times the cost of high end LED, are you willing to spend close to 1k on a same sized monitor? It also doesn't refresh quite as fast and has issues with burn in (see google pixel 2 xl).

Rebehle420Ah, yes, I stand corrected. There are one or two on the market, but they're several thousand dollars each.
