nousernameneededGod people need to stop propagating this nonsense, you don't need a huge PSU to run this system! 350w is enough to run this system, especially since you can't overclock.
techwizwho said anything about huge? 500W is not huge as they make them double that size and bigger, and you wont run into potential stupid issues like wheny ou isntall that tv tuner your pc wont ever turn on again because you have no power...there is 0 wiggle room on a 1300$ pc...fuck me!
When the MANUFACTURE of the videocard says use a 500W PSU for the entire system, you do. you don't cheap out like a bitch and use something smaller. Would you drive your car at 4000rpm? no of course you wouldn't, you would overheat and damage your car. That's what you are doing here. the MINIMUM this card needs is 150W..that leaves 200@ to power the mechanical drive, all usb ports which could weasily ahve another 3 external hard drives, plus you got the IO device you need to think about and a mouse/keyboard and whatever stupid external devices you got going on...guess where that leaves your cpu...overheating, shutting down randomly beacuse why...the company decided to same themselves 12$ (50$ cost to you) by not upgrading it to a 500W powersupply? I never said get a damn 750/1000W PSU, but a 350?! fuck that noise.
If you want to bottleneck your system on a PSU go right ahead..enjoy the random powerdowns and overheating ya twat.
Just did some quick product checking and referencing it against http://outervision.com/power-supply-calculator and they are stating that this build, with good cooling and 'gaming' keyboard and moust with 3 usb3 accessories, 2 80mm fans and 2 140mm fans with the other typical bullshit. you are running at approx 312W with a potential of 361W...now why the hell would you want to bottleneck a system on the PSU!? will it hurt anything to install a 500W? no...no at all, will it hurt to be a cheap bitch on a 1300$ computer? yeah..it will..it makes it not run.
this build will cost more money at the end of the day - no one should even throw money at this shit, but components and build a properly put together system..also dont listen to this 'techwiz' he's one of those tards

nousernameneededHere's a link detailing exactly how PSUs work and how one should go about picking one: http://www.corsair.com/en-us/blog/2013/october/how-to-build-a-pc---the-power-supply
A PSU is not comparable to a car engine because a car engine has to sustain several hundred explosions per second and over-revving causes misfires and messes with the timings that are incredibly important to the operation of the engine. PSUs instead change efficiency depending on the power consumption and the overall size of the PSU.
Also I tried using your calculator there to get 361w and I couldn't reproduce those numbers, I must have entered something differently, I kept seeing 390w. However, the Coolermaster calculator here (http://www.coolermaster.com/power-supply-calculator/) gave me 330w for the same config settings, so YMMV.
That being said, my system with a 6700k and a 980ti does not break 200 under most games (VR sometimes pushing 230ish) which would mean that this system, if it pulls similar wattage from the wall, would end up falling in the optimal efficiency zone for the 350w PSU. The hardware in this rig shouldn't be pushing the upper limit of that PSU unless you're sitting there bitcoin mining or something.

2Mk1While I agree with this statement 100% and I encourage anyone who is even moderately interested to try and build their own PCs, some people find comfort in knowing they can pick up a phone and find immediate assistance with their issues. Some people also find building their own PCs to be a daunting task (it's really not, but fear is a strange beast) and that is enough to put people off the idea of building their own PC. For either of those people, this is a pretty decent deal. Also, some people might just like the aesthetic.
