Sky2205Terrible, this is a GE model and i have the GS (i know, i know it's "its different") but from experience with MSI laptops i get anywhere from 45min - 1.5 hr from 0-100% on Ubuntu using only the integrated card. Definitely not a "Campus Essential". "Dorm room Essential" sure ill give it that.
Sam,
Out of the Helios 300 lineup the only model that is close to this is the PH317-51-787B. It is available for $1300.
Raider GTX 1070 8GB VS Helios GTX 1060 6GB
Raider 17.3" 120Hz VS Helios 173" 90Hz
Raider 2x512SSD M.2 drives (can configure raid) VS Helios 256GB Standard SSD
Raider 1x16GB DDR4 Ram (open slot to upgrade to 32GB) VS Helios 2x8GB DDR4 (no open slots)
Features on the raider to call out.
Superior Speakers and Sound Quality
Superior Cooling Technology
Superior Overall Build Quality and Higher End Internal Components
Brushed Aluminum Case
Per Key Programmable RGB Keyboard
So there is quite a difference between these two laptops.
Cheers.

I agree they’re definitely different, but I feel like the MSI laptop is not worth 900 extra dollars for those few changes. I’m saying price to dollar acer is a much better deal
