tripogWhile I agree on your general principal, this particular card has been effectively unavailable for purchase in over 2 months- and last it was, was being listed for $1200. (info via pcpartpicker)
SamebitoWhen last I checked, they didn't check a lot of legit stores, and some things are just fine used. Intel products in general for example.
They also don't show deals.
SamebitoExcuse my skimming your comment. Missed that but why get MSI for $900 when you can get evga with an extended warranty for less than that? Better customer service and if your card dies in 2 years they'll just replace it often with a new gen. for $950 you can get a watercooled AIO 1080 ti
DalamarThis guy speaks the truth, if you want good deals pcpartpicker isnt the best, and anyone paying more than $800 for an air cooled 1080ti is getting jipped. Couple months after release i bought an EVGA SC black for $650
DalamarThey pull data from 29 different sources, including pretty much every major etailer of computer components. Sure, some things are fine used. If you want used, why are you here? Also, pcpartpicker does show sales- they poll current data several times a day, if I recall. The only thing they don't show is things requiring a code- which you would get in your email anyway, as most of the decent ones require a corresponding email address.
tripogCouple things. First, I didn't try to claim that this particular model was a fantastic deal- however with the current GPU market the lowest you're going to find a NEW 1080ti is about $720. Any lower than that is pretty much immediately scooped up. And a couple months after release there was no price soaring because of miners, so your anecdote is kind of irrelevant.
