I own the 4K (2TB HDD+256GB SSD 6700HQ 1060 with RAM upgraded to 32GB) version of this laptop. Some notes: the keyboard "backlighting" is RGB, but only customisable in 3 "zones", left, middle and right. So don't expect full control over which key has what color. The backlighting itself is pretty nice though, with not only the character on the key but also the sides of the keys lighting up. The audio "Nahimic Surround" thingy is the biggest bullshit, uninstall it as soon as you get this laptop and enjoy good sound from the soundcard. Just doing a clean install of windows 10 is advised, actually. The built-in speakers are crap, I can only use it when listening to speech as music or anything else just sounds awful. As long as these aren't dealbreakers for you, and they shouldn't be really, this is a great laptop, and especially if you can get it for $1300. Great performance in a package with the same dimensions as the 15" MacBook Pro Retina, which is much less powerful. This is what I would call a "MacBook Killer", as it is the same size (not the same as the newest MacBook Pros) and much more powerful. And you'll only need a dongle if you're using some exotic special cable as this laptop has pretty much all the ports that are thin enough to fit on the chassis, including a USB-C (Thunderbolt 3) port. Some friends own the Dell XPS 15 (the 512GB 6700HQ 960M model) and they were amazed I was running some demanding videogames at over 60fps in 1080p on a laptop, and it runs 3D-software like C4D fine, and Photoshop, Premiere, After Effects, all run fine on this.
Some more notes to Massdrop: Why are you not even specifying if this is a TN panel or IPS? And you say nothing about the "Customisable" keyboard not being completely customisable. What does "16G GDDR5X (8GB each)" mean? I get this is just a text you get from MSI, which tries to "disguise details" to trick you into expecting more of the laptop than it actually can promise, but I'd love for you to check the facts or just let anyone who knows anything about laptops read it as the spec page is just full of marketing terms and even things that are plain wrong.
For anyone else, educate yourself on this laptop if you're feeling like you could want this (the MSI subreddit is a good source for honest reviews, and don't watch LinusTechTips' video on it as it contains many things that aren't true), and if you accept all the bad aspects of it and still want it, go for it! I love mine!

partypenguinIt says clearly in the description that it's an IPS panel? What is it in the specs that isn't true? (serious question as i'm looking to buy)
