Why is this a deal? Especially considering with the power brick it will be at least 10 lb to carry this thing around. You can buy a gen8 i7 with GTX 1070 easily with this kind of money, with thinner and lighter body too. Unless your plan is to use this to render video or something.

JunyangThree M.2 Slots (two are NVMe compatible) in addition to the 2.5" bay for tons of storage options, much better cooling than those thin and lights so no throttling for higher performance, four RAM slots (max capacity 4x16GB), tons of connectivity options, socketed MXM 3.0 GPU that can be upgraded later if needed, easier maintenance. Oh and for applications that can't take advantage of multiple cores, but love higher clocks, the 7820HK in this can beat out an 8750H due to having an unlocked multiplier for more raw MHz.

SabishiihitoMoot point if you are using it as a stationary PC. A desktop can do all of that with better performance. And once again, I don't think anyone is carrying this around.

JunyangIt's portable enough to pack in your bag and put it in the car to carry to your destination. I have one and it's not THAT heavy, and I'm nowhere near being a buff guy.

SabishiihitoIf you are going through airline security the bulk itself would be a no thank you. A lot of the airline restrict the dimensions and weight of your carry on. I travel light and I don't think this laptop scream professional.

JunyangWhat kind of an idiot would bring a desktop replacement laptop onto a flight? This isn't for you if you want something thin and light, but don't try to act like there is no market for it or that it's uses are any less "important."

SabishiihitoAnd...Queue the insult lol, I'm a frequent traveler. And this thing doesn't even have a ssd in it. It will be over $2000 before you can get any "performance" out of it. I just don't see why anyone needs such a thing. Get a desktop and a thin and light instead of half assing both.

SabishiihitoTo both of you. @Sabishiihito @Junyang I carried an ASUS ROG around for years and even on international trips. 17" screen and full size keyboard. Never had an issue and didn't even feel it. No problems going through any security checkpoint or using it in flight. Doesn't mean you are wrong, just saying we do exist when it comes to this discussion. :D

BrainFlushI have been traveling for my job 50% of the time the last 6 years. I own a Sager mobile workstation around 8.5 lbs. In two years of flying with it (2 trips a month, 4 interactions at the airport total each month 48 yearly x2 years, 96 times flown. A handful of times TSA would pull it aside, wipe it down and what not, ~5 minute hassle. not every TSA agent, even at the same airport exactly follows the same standard.
i should add that I leave it at home now and use much lighter ultrabooks. Way more convenient and I remote the workstation for heavy lifting
