Lol what a joke, Nvidia rushed the hell out of the 1000 series release just to get a jump on AMD (who aren't even competing for the same market) and now they're deathly low on stock.

hugh_maniacAMD will have enthusiast cards as well, while NVidia is seeking for the enthusiast market AMD is going for a bigger market share with affordability, and performance and wattage usage.

ZedelwonHa ? What ? Have you seen how many Watts NVIDIA cards use VS AMD cards or are you living on another planet ? AMD requires roughly double as much power for their equivalent cards.

TheStrangerZedelwon is talking about AMD's new Polaris GPUs, such as their new 199$ RX 480 which only uses 150 watts (same wattage as 1070) and as far as performance goes... we do know that 2 RX 480s in Crossfire can beat a 1080... thats around 400$ for 2 RX 480s compared to a 1080s 700$ dollar price tag. As far as AMDs equivalent card meant to directly compete with the 1070 there is still a RX 490 to come which will feature a full Polaris chip, unlike the cut down one that the RX 480 has, and will be as or slightly more powerful than the 1070 for a lot cheaper (RUMORS say about 300$). Now before any NVIDIA fanboys come and try to destroy me, I am simply saying that what Zedelwon said is valid. I am not saying as that AMD is superior. AMD's cards may be cheaper, but NVIDIA can justify their increased price with all their new shiny GameWorks (Ansel) tech which lets you take 360 degree DSLR-esque photos in game as well as their new path-traced audio, and their new multi-projection software which , in my opinion for anyone who has more than one monitor, make the increased price compared to AMD cards worth it. It all depends on personal preference and where your priorities are. Sorry for the block of text. I just hate it when people make valid points and then other people dismissively laugh at them and treat them like stupids.

YarrcadRumors and IFs.....Lets wait until these are "REAL" and talk about them later...And even IF they are real still a card with 50% the performance of the 1070 using the same wattage is not what i'd call better.

YarrcadThanks Yarr, that's exactly what I mean. lmao And Stranger we pretty much have solid proof if you keep up with the actual news and not just fan boys. I love Nvidia to death, I've owned their cards since the 560, but I'm an enthusiast and need both companies to do great so they both continue to grow. In a nutshell, go read and watch videos. Don't believe your weabo friends. lol

TheStrangerThe RX 480 is "REAL" and has a release date of June 29. A RX 480 also does not have "50% the performance of the 1070." I'm assuming you misread my comment and pulled the 50% from the comparison to the 1080 which is an understandable mistake seeing as the topic was the 1070. Of course, even if you hadn't misread my comment, the 50% you got from it was still nothing more than an incorrect assumption. All I said was that 2 RX 480s offered more performance than a 1080, not that two RX 480s were perfectly even with a 1080 (according to the AOTS benchmark two RX 480s beat the 1080 with only 51% GPU utilization compared to the 98.7% GPU utilization of the 1080). Now, if you really want to directly compare a RX 480 to a 1070, 3DMARK benchmarks show that the 1070 only offers an 18% performance gain compared to the RX 480 and costs about 56% more (about 53% more for the non founders version). Please keep in mind that I never said the RX 480 was "better" than the 1070 and in fact I even said that, in my opinion, I would prefer a 1070 over a RX 480 for multiple monitor users due to the multi-projection software. Which card you get "depends on personal preference and where your priorities are." I will however concede that my quick mention of the rumors surrounding the price and performance of the RX 490 are still nothing more than rumors and as you said should be talked about at a later date when there is more information. I simply wanted to inform people that AMD will release a card meant to rival NVIDIA's new cards, just in case some prospective buyers who don't need a card right this second and might be on a tighter budget but still want a card on par with a NVIDIA's new cards wanted to wait and see what AMD's other cards have to offer before making their final decision on which card to purchase. I'm sorry if there was some miscommunication. I am not trying to start a flame war or anger anyone, I just want people to be informed so that they can feel as comfortable as possible when deciding which card they want to purchase for their new rigs. Again, I am sorry if my replies to your comments anger you or make you feel insulted.

YarrcadSo there are reviews of the RX480 online ? As far as i know there are only some "presentations" by AMD at this point. When we see reviews we will see performance. AMD was gloating about the Fury line too and at the end of the day it didn't live up to those rumors so i will expect to see reviews before i am certain about anything.

ZedelwonYou don't have solid proof, you will have proof If reviews turn up the things you believe about that card. Let's wait and see then. As for Videos only dumb people believe promotions by either NVIDIA or AMD, smart people wait to see many real reviews to make up their mind.

TheStrangerYou are completely and absolutely right. I can do nothing more than agree with you about that. (not sarcasm :P)
