...from what i read you may also be sacrificing strength and durability.

ozedudeYeah I was very tempted until I started reading some reviews. Lots of people saying that they got one or two trips out of it... carbon poles snapping, mesh ripping, fly won't stay attached, etc. The old pre 2016 tents where pretty light and got good reviews... in 2016 they made it a *lot* lighter mostly by using very thin fabric for the mesh and tent body and using velco/clips instead of zippers on the fly. This might be a good tent for ultralight trips in good, sheltered conditions if weight is the primary driver and you are willing to accept the risk your expensive tent may get trashed despite your best efforts. It is very difficult to get this low of a weight in a double wall tent in this price range for sure. Usually to get this light you need high end, boutique cuben fiber stuff and pay close to $600. MSR has done it by using "normal" tent material (PU nylon) and just making them paper thin. If your use case requires both lightness and durability, probably the extra money is money well spent.

Ackattackerl, too, had looked at this tent when I was looking for something lighter than my 8 year old MSR Hubba Hubba (love that tent!)
Coming from an MSR tent I naturally looked at them first, but the reviews + price + weight just didn't add up for me. I was looking for a 2 man tent to be used with 1 person & 2 dogs. I looked at Zpacks of course, but my configuration of it would be $700! I discovered the Nemo Hornet 2P, and ultimately bought it.
$370 at full retail, roughly $300 with those 20% coupons you can find throughout the year. It's a 10D rainfly and 15D floor. When I bought it, there weren't a ton of reviews, but now there are a bunch. Packaged weight of 2lb 5 oz. Comes to 2lb on my scale for the tent, fly, and poles (I use lighter stakes and skip guylines & their stuff sacks). Poles are aluminum, not carbon.
My only complaint of the Nemo Hornet is the rainfly is cut a bit high at the head of the tent, so if you don't put something between your sleeping bag and the tent wall, a small amount of moisture can transfer through that section onto your bag. I now put my backpack or reflectix sit pad between my sleeping bag and tent wall.
Anyhow, just wanted to share what I ended up buying as someone who once looked at the carbon reflex tent.

CardamomteaThanks so much for this! I have an 8 year old hubba hubba as well and was looking for a 2 person + 1 kid replacement. I'll check out the Nemos!

octavecatNot sure if the Hornet comes in 3P or not. We have a Nemo Galaxi 3P for when I go car camping or short backpacking with my boyfriend plus two dogs.
The Nemo Hornet 2P will definitely be too small for two people and dogs. I wouldn't use it with my boyfriend personally -- he's 6' and I'm 5'3". It's worth an extra pound to have more space in my opinion. But, the Hornet 2P is a FANTASTIC 1 person or 1 person + 2 dog tent. I might get MSR Hubba Hubba again for backpacking with boyfriend. (I have the 2007? Hubba Hubba and it served me very well... that thing is a tank!) Still need to research.
