This Drop looks very very bad, the comments on this drop are from previous versions of this drop. This version looks really really bad value. Look any kind of grab bag and if Gatecrash is represented as much as the grab bag allows, you know the grab bag is simply trying to off load product that is no where near the value of the money being asked. Recently there was a drop on here for a french BOX of gatecrash for about $55. The fact that you can hit a fat pack that has 9 booster packs in it, when the 36 pack french box is $55 and not selling well tells you this drop is not worth it. If I got one of the six Gate Crash boxes for $39.99 plus shipping I would be devestated. Quick glance all the ones that have six in the pool don't look like they are worth the $39.99. I am staying away from this drop.

JonPaulJon Paul.. Do you understand that for there to be a chance at extremely valuable boxes such as Worldwake which is worth close to $300 and Phyrexia and Innistrad which are worth well over $100 each for only $39.99 there has to be others that are worth less than $39.99 to even things out. In my opinion, the way one should look at this listing is : for the MSRP of a current Fat Pack you have a chance at getting some that are worth way more than MSRP. The worst case scenario, you get a not so good fat pack at MSRP which is only $10-$15 above market prices. Yes, you could buy some of these for $25-$30 elsewhere but it is not like you are out $100 even if you get the worst one in the bunch..

scedaveTo me your point sounds like, "This is a lottery ticket". I agree it is a lottery ticket, and I think the odds are very very very bad. I think you are more likely, FAR more likely to over pay for what you get than to get one of the few fat packs worth more than the price to enter the lottery. My frustration with Massdrop having products like these is that they are just lottery "deals". I would like actual Deals on products I like, not just being showed lottery ticket products. And this is a very very very bad lottery product. Putting the actually numbers together don't interest me, because in one look I can see the odds are bad and there is the VERY REAL issue of what if the actual seller doesn't send out the fat packs that are worth more than the entry fee to the lottery , But there is what.... 7-10 fat packs worth more than the entry fee. Thats not good.
Also you are throwing out numbers like $300 and $100, for fat packs, I'm not sure if 8-10 packs of the sets you mention are worth that much. I know Amazon has people trying to sell them for that much, but TCG player, a very accurate site for product values, values a pack of Worldwake at $18 which would put the fat pack of 8 packs, closer to $144. So I think what you say the values of the fat packs are is a bit over inflated, at least in the case of world wake.
BTW a quick amazon search also shows that all the Fat Packs in the lottery that show up 6 times are going for less than $39.99 on Amazon.
The Value of this drop is not there. Its simply a lottery and IMO a very very very over priced lottery. The only way to stop mass drop from doing these poor lottery's is to not participate in them IMO.

JonPaulI guess others have a different opinion considering this drop is over 1/3 sold out in the 1st day listed. And if you want to call a grab bag a lottery then to some extent it is . The difference with a grab bag versus an actual lottery is when you are not the winner of the big prizes you still get something of value that you can use, trade or resell as opposed to getting nothing like a losing lottery ticket that you throw in the garbage.. Obviously these drops are not for everyone but obviously based on the success of them overall, time after time, there are many people who like taking a chance at really rare boxes without having to break the bank and find it exciting not knowing what they are getting. As far as Worldwake values.. Maybe TCG says the packs are worth $18 a piece but try finding an actual Worldwake Fat Pack anywhere for less than $250+. There is a premium on the rarity of the item itself beyond the value of the packs. Thats why they are called collectibles card games to begin with. No one is saying buying this for mathematical purposes makes it the best deal but that is not really the point to this type of drop. In the end, if it is not for you, just move on to something else that is instead of trying to fight a fight that others are happy with.

scedaveThat's basically my thinking as well. I recently got back into playing so I'm having fun building my collection (I didn't have much). This drop gives me a 76% chance to get a bundle from a set I haven't bought one from yet. Part of the fun is seeing what I get, and hoping it's something new. Best case it's a rare set and has great cards, worst case I slightly overpay for a bundle from a set I already have cards from. Either way, it's a fun mystery and it's more packs to open. :)
