About time, Massdrop!
This is a good deal. Most offer this between $185 and $200 at the moment. EV for the set is right around $190-$200, and much higher with some luck (Mana Drain about 1:5 boxes).
I'm passing on this drop but it is currently the best way to purchase a box of Iconic Masters.

AtriumXPYep. They ran the same price for MM17 and I always regretted not getting in on a box at the $180 price point considering they stabilized at $220.

AtriumXPThere are 9 listed right now in TCGPlayer for $181.68 shipping included. Don't know where you are looking.

MrHoferProbably reactionary adjustments since this Massdrop deal made a splash over 5 hours ago. It's even been featured in prominent Twitter mentions (ex: @TheProxyGuy). The bigger guns at TCG have automated inventory capabilities to adjust to market (I sell there but am not at that tier).
When I saw this in my e-mail, I looked around and the lowest alternative around was eBay auctions at 185, lowest alternative. I didn't see anything lower than $185 on TCGPlayer when this deal hit Massdrop.

AtriumXPTo be fair, I saw those same TCG prices ($181) on Friday night and had planned to pre-order there after payday. This just happened to post on payday, and I've ordered from Massdrop before, so I know what I'm getting from them.

wellmetalAll I can say is maybe those sold out when I looked at them. You guys realize that as people order the finite listings on TCG, they drop off and the next lowest moves up the list, right? Massdrop has already sold over 400 of these, just showing you how popular it is. So consider it's quite likely that those other listings can easily have been consumed at the moment I posted.

Another example is that Amazon, at this very instant, has their lowest boxes available at $198 with shipping included. Same deal. Or am I going to see people posting how wrong I am in a few days when their market also adjusts?
Granted, there are a lot more available now at TCG (about 100 boxes under $185), but like I said - they probably jumped around a bit. All I know is when I saw this, I looked at a few places (including TCG and eBay) and the lowest I saw was $185. I never stated they couldn't possibly be lower elsewhere. I never stated they couldn't possibly have been available for less at TCG. I even said "_Most_" in my original post.

To be fair. : )

AtriumXPAmazon wont adjust, but TCGPlayer has been at or under 180 every time I've checked in the past 4 weeks.
Im not trying to rag on you, just want people to know there are better deals, and everytime ive ordered from massdrop it's been over 3 weeks for delivery.

MrHoferFair enough.
I still stand by what I stated in my OP. When this drop went live, there was/is literally one outlet that was possibly less (and even your post claimed it was almost $2 more than the $180 offered here). Not that $2 is a bank buster, but it's worth noting the technically higher price. So there's nothing inherently wrong with my stating that this is a "good deal" at the time I made the comment.
I'm also not sp quick to dismiss Amazon as "won't adjust" - most of those listings are managed by retailers and I've often found market corrections there. A good example was when the Nichol Bolas Archenemy set was released. Amazon actually had most other outlets beat for at least the three times I ordered it, and combined with free Prime shipping it was quite a bargain. Not the case now, but they definitely settle into a competitive range when a product is hot and sellers don't want to be stuck holding inventory.
I can't attest to the shipping times... My Ixalan product arrived a week after the official release date. Conveniently, this drop doesn't actually tell us when the shipment will go out (it just notes the official release date). But I've definitely seen some drops released in waves and others offering super small quantities, offering new drops for the same product when more supply was obtained.
Massdrop is a weird creature in that respect... basically their inventory is supplied by other retailers.

AtriumXPGlad you've been able to score deals on Amazon, I've never seen prices competitive with other sellers on there.
I think the Archenemy set is a different animal than this. It will depend on how the draft feeling is but I think this will be more likely to be in demand after the initial rush of purchasing compared to Archenemy. It's kind of like comparing MM3 and Planeswalker decks.

MrHoferThat's a different direction... I wasn't comparing the Archenemy set against Iconic Masters in terms of what the products are. It was just an easy example I could provide against the assertion that Amazon is an outlet that "won't adjust". Initial demand for the Archenemy set was absolutely there and the trend unquestionably pushed Amazon's prices down. I paid less for each one I bought over that first week, and every time they were the cheapest available.
Going into that a little more, I think there's a lot more impact given to price point on sales meta when talking about two limited products like that. Either case, actually (Archenemy products vs. Iconic Masters booster boxes, and Modern Masters 3 booster boxes vs. a Planeswalker deck). My only point being (and likely agreeing with what you posted) is that price point matters, probably moreso for a site like Amazon. I'm quite sure they have more orders for sealed content under $50 than they do for sealed content over $150.
I'm not even sure where this discussion is going anymore lol

MrHoferCompletely beating a dead horse, but this popped into my feed again so I decided to check on my prior statement.
Amazon has indeed adjusted with the market. I see listings at $149.99 with free Prime shipping. Not the cheapest out there, but it definitely adjusted down from MSRP and from it's earlier offering. :D
