I'm kind of disappointed that 10% of the boxes are a silver-bordered set. Also the fact that at least 64% of the boxes are worth less than half of the drop price if you just bought them somewhere else, and the rest you'd be better off just paying for a box anyway.
My theory is that the cost of the drop is the total retail value of the booster bundles (plus some extra profit margin I'm sure), divided by the number of boxes they have. That way the retailer can move a lot of worthless boxes.
Basically, they are adding another layer of risk and gambling to the already risky endeavor of buying boxes.
Edit: I don't think Massdrop does this, but in a gamble like this, it can also be difficult to verify that the boxes were even real. Sellers could just send everyone cheap boxes because most customers won't be able to build a complete list of who got what.

G_zimmerAgreed. Plus the fact that there are only 8 boxes out of the 100 that have a higher EV (according to Dawn Glare) for what you pay... So if you think you're one the lucky ones who will hit one in that 8% chance... PASS

Sorry for the needless reply, but eluding = dodging/escaping, I think you meant alluding (as in referring to something else without explicitly saying it).
