Again, no mention of either 'free shipping', or the cost if not free!

LoneRangerDid you ever try USPS shipping? Its different now days. We did a test sending two boxes of xmas boxes, one UPS and the other one USPS. Guess which arrived first from Philadelphia to California, Yep USPS in 3 days, while UPS took a week. We said noway so we tried it again, same conditions. First class mail or about the same price both ways to make it even. USPS arrived in 2 days while UPS took a week and a half.... Try it some time...... It even surprised me and I'm a postal worker.... I know we send things late sometime but we are not perfect with the amount of mail we send and receive.. Mike...Big Bird.... from Philly

MikeFinoThanks Mike... Well, my total for 2pr w/shipping was $47.73, so I guess shipping was $3.75. My main reason for making the comment was that this has become, or is becoming, the norm on Massdrop - that is: to not mention the price of shipping on the drop, until you join it. I've since figured out that you can see the price by joining the drop, and that is common with some other companies you buy online from. That is: you don't get the shipping price until you add it to your cart and then go to check-out. It irritates me since the only purpose for that is to lead you down the path to purchasing the item - a slightly underhanded sales trick, similar to trying to get the prospective customer to say yes as many times as you can. Oh, and yes, I would 'always' use USPS if I had a choice. I live way out in the country and it is more common for FedEx (closest terminal about 60 miles) to give the package to USPS to deliver to me than deliver it themselves. UPS also hands it over to USPS sometimes, although they do have a terminal 15 miles from me - USPS is generally quicker (always quicker than FedEx - 50% of the time quicker than UPS) - but sometimes things get sent the wrong direction or get hung up in some kind of 2-3 day loop in the last big city they get to - 60 miles away.

LoneRangerIt happens with all shippers. If the parcel gets damaged it will be held up for a few days. They try to find the shipping label to verify the receiver is then they true to find a packing slip or something that shows what was in the box. Once it all found they repack it and send a note as to what happened or what may be missing. That can tie up the parcel work a week or more. Another big problem is that the mailer does not pack it properly which makes it easier to tear open. We had bowling balls packed in damaged boxes. ONE of the mail handlers nearly got hit with one. This happen on return chute about 30 feet long and rolled back on itself. That ball hit the stop at the end of a chute stop barrier. The only problen is that the stop is an 8 in diameter pipe welded at the end of the chute. The ball hit it and bounced about 8ft in the air then hit the floor about 20 Ft away then just kept on rolling with people jumping out of the way.. Just an update.... many people get hurt but the USPS ends up trying to say it's your fault. I ended up falling from 10 straight down to a concrete floor. Broke 2 ribs, had both knees replaced plus it caused a reaction to my blood pressure system. As the years went by it just got worse. It took 10 years to finally get the case approved by workmans comp. I am basically bed ridden because I started to fall more often as time went on. I have to use either a walker or wheel chair if I have to walk any distance as I will drop like a dime..... Take care....
