Not about this pack specifically, but this is about the 15th pack I've considered. Airline carry-on maximum dimensions are 22 x 14 x 9. This bag is just three inches over in one dimension. Can no one design a bag to make most use of the airlines allowed space without being an inch or two too large?

Charles19521If you haven’t already, check out the Skycap or the Trident packs from Vanquest. Both fit nicely in airline spaces.

Charles19521I believe the 12" depth dimension is a misprint. The actual dimensions are 19" high x12" wide x8" deep. You can probably get the 12" width to 13" if stuffed. The 8" depth is with all three main compartments filled. Of course, you can tighten/reduce the depth with the compression straps. I've used it as a carry-on and have had no problems (Southwest four times, United once thus far). Fits easily under Economy seats or in the bins above.
I got this pack six weeks ago, following the prior Massdrop (and for $15 more--oh well). Having its volume divided into three main spaces, with stacked organizer pockets in the front space, makes for the most versatile and user-friendly EDC pack I've yet owned. The waist belt is a real weight-bearing waist belt, which folds away neatly and easily until needed. For my other thoughts, see my earlier comments below.

StoryvilleIf you're looking for absolute max-size carry-on for travel, i.e., comparable to Vanquest Skycap, lots of folks love the relatively new Tortuga Setout. The Osprey Farpoint 40 has some design flaws, but it remains my go-to and I still find it the most comfortable. I'm picky, so I hear you on the 15+ packs, and counting. Good luck finding your match!

Charles19521I also have this pack and it'll easily suit carry on/personal item needs for any airline as the side compression straps can compress the depth of the pack. It's a very versatile pack and i've already used for the work commute, EDC, hiking. biking and rucking with 20-25 lbs (thanks to the load bearing, usable waist strap). This would honestly be my personal item in conjunction with my carry on roller in 99% of my trips.
You'll regret not buying one once these are gone....it's unfortunate that the recent MR urban/commuter options lack many basic features (i.e. Urban Assault lacking exterior bottle holders OR the Streetfighter being WAY too small for practical daily use). I think the Daily is one of the most practical/versatile packs that they've released in recent years as i've found that many of their product lines are TOO purpose specific (and many lack a basic laptop pocket, only water bladder pockets or are seriously lacking in organizational pockets).
