DiegoKI actually purchased dots that appear to be the same manufacturer as these (same looking container). They were not nearly as good as my old set of nanodots (that I lost like an idiot). The coating fell off really quickly and they couldn't hold a cube shape as well. They're still fun to play with if you don't mind those issues though.

R1amuDo you know the store where you purchased your other Nanodots? We definitely take quality very seriously, so if they're genuine Nanodots, bought from Massdrop we will go the extra mile to take care of you. If you bought from another brand there isn't much we can do. I'd keep my real Nanodots separate if possible.

DiegoKThose magnets on Amazon may look similar, but they are most definitely different! Not all magnets are created equal. Have you seen dotpedia?

Nano_Magnetics_USANono Nanodots are amazing! I meant I bought the same as the amazon link, after I lost my Nanodots, the amazon ones were not even remotely of the same quality.

R1amuCan you elaborate on the quality difference please? Just wondering what the difference is and if it is worth paying extra for that better quality. Thanks!

Q_BobThe quality difference was very distinct, my nanodots lasted over a year before I lost them, while the cheapo ones from eBay lasted a couple weeks before the coating started coming off on the poles, and maybe a month before entire magnets had no coating left. In addition, the cheapo magnets were not evenly sized, and they were not able to form the same shapes as the nanodots could. Specifically, the cheap ones were bad at forming anything square. That said, if you just want them to squish and fiddle with, the cheapo ones will probably do. If your fiddling consists of building things and you plan to play with them a lot, I'd get the nanodots. The only reason I even got the cheap ones was because nanodots can't sell in Canada.
I attached a picture of my cheapo magnets, you can see several magnets wore very heavily, and they aren't holding their shapes in the corners of the 'L' shape as well as I remember my nanodots holding.

R1amuThanks for the info, I appreciate it. I think I'll get some of the good ones (like nanodots) to play with and then I might use the cheap ones to create a small art piece or two (after designing the art with the good ones) and mount them on a metal stand for display. I wonder how many have tried Buckey Balls (sp?). I recently saw some of those for sale. They are generally larger I think but that is good if you need different sizes.
