I was wondering the same thing. I wouldn't mind being in on this but I just hate rejection. LOL!

Thanks again for joining this drop! With your help we were able to make it successful for the community. We've just submitted the group's order with the vendor for the Napkin 4.EVER Pininfarina Cambiano and they are working hard to prepare it for shipment.
As soon as the group's order is ready at the vendor's location, they will send the bulk shipment to our warehouse in New Jersey where our warehouse team will break it up into individual orders and ship them directly to you! The current estimated ship date from our warehouse is 1/1.
Rest assured that we we will provide you all with updated information regarding the status of your order throughout the process. You can expect an update from us by the end of the day Pacific Time on 12/28.
Hi all,
We were able to secure more units of this special copper edition of the Cambiano, so have raised the drop limit to 200.
It seems more like a pencil that's hard to erase than a pen. By defintion a pen is an implement to apply INK to a surface.
Can someone post an example of the writing this pencil/pen produces?

For post by DrBob.
Is it just me or are these pens not as well made as they sound? Finish isn't great.
I can confirm that erasers can erase markings made with this pen. However, it takes a bit more effort and isn't as cleanly erased as with normal pencils.

Another update for the group. There was an unexpected issue with our shipping carrier and it looks like the group's orders were returned to our warehouse. Rest assured, we are monitoring this situation closely and expect our warehouse team will have everything shipped back out in the next day or so.
As always, we will update the group again if anything comes up. Thanks again for your continued patience and choosing to be a part of this community.
Quick update for the group. All of the UPS orders were shipped earlier this week and USPS orders were shipped out yesterday. Tracking for those isn't quite showing movement yet, but USPS' system can take 24-48 hours for things to start showing motion.
Thanks again for the support guys. Drop by the discussion board and share your experience with the Napkin 4.EVER Pininfarina Cambiano Bundle. The community would love to hear your thoughts.

I took polished black. I hope it was the right choice, because it was very difficult to find a exact description which color looks like what?! First I wanted to took the matte black because of grip and haptic. But on the picture the matte black looks like silver?! But after a intensive Google session I didn't knew more. So I took polished black to be sure the pen is dark. What did you took?

You can see the polished black (black gloss) in my pictures above. I bought directly from Pininfarina.

I bought my 4.Ever Cambiano pen directly from Pininfarina when there was a 3 month wait list. At the time the choice was a light wood with light metal and dark wood with dark metal, both metals gloss. I also bought a Beta Inkless Pen from Massdrop. The Beta pen point is sharper and a bit scratchier as a result. According to Massdrop, the larger Beta pen tip contains the element lead and it was suggested it could be sharpened with sandpaper. The 4.Ever pen has a rounder tip about 2/3rds the length (and 1/3rd the volume). Descriptions say it does not contain lead.
I have photographed my 4.Ever pen, both pens, and the "ink" image generated by both pens. I then erased both with the same eraser. The paper is 100% recycled quality cellulose paper. Both "ink" images are virtually identical and required about the same effort. Both scratch a bit. Both inks have a partially metallic luster (visible on the D and E) and neither erased beyond half with heavy pressure.
If the "rock" paper is calcium carbonate (limestone) in a polymer matrix it is not going to oxidize like cellulose paper. The "ink" of both pens seems to be on the surface rather than an oxidized image. (I am a PhD chemist.) My 4.Ever pen did not ship with a pad. It arrived from Italy with much the same packaging.
The dark gloss is very nice and does not show fingerprints much. My two wood sides seem darker than pictured here, though the side with the Pinifarina logo is lighter than the blank side. This is a trophy pen rather than an every day instrument, in my opinion.

Great feedback from @DrBob @sonic and @Bogart, thanks.
DrBob
Thank you.
Kudos to MassDrop for offering this item. I own one already and thought it might be helpful to chime in and share my experience with it:
1. This is a pretty cool writing instrument, and between the stand/case and pen it gets a lot of attention.
2. As stylish as it is, it is no fun to actually write with. It's fine for the occasional note, but not for much more.
3. The writing is very light and can be difficult to read on pages that aren't bright white.
4. The tip of the pen is too wide for my preference. I find I have to write letters much larger than I would with other pens/pencils in order to have them be well-formed. It's closer to writing with the sharpie than it is to a mechanical pencil with ~HB. If the tip was more fine, it would use this all the time. But it's not, so I don't.
Summary:
If you're buying this to look cool on your desk: mission accomplished, if you're buying this to do a lot of writing with: not a great plan.

Thank you for the outstanding feedback.
Think I will go for the Matte as well. Probably won't smudge as much.
So does that mean that the glossy has a smoother surface? Do you think it will slip?
any concerns regarding the glossy one scratching? Is it glossy cause it's painted or is the metal actually just glossy? How does the matte feel (the surface of the metal)?
I can't decide between gloss and matte.
DeathbyMusic
Personally, I went with matte just for the sake of having a slightly better grip surface. I also like the look a little more -- bit more unusual, and colours match a bit better imo.
Looks like this is the same price as Amazon.com and you can get it from Anderson Pens for $95 USD: http://www.andersonpens.com/Pininfarina-Cambiano-Inkless-Desk-Set-Matte-Black-p/np01524.htm
The pen has a special Ethergraf tip, a patented metal alloy, that allows it to write like a graphite pencil, on all types of paper, but it is not erasable. The actual tip produces a fat (1.5 mm) dull gray line.
tralls
"You can think of oxidization as the same process that turns newspapers yellow over time. Contact between the pen and paper alters the writing surface, but not the tool. In that sense, the claim that the the pen can be used to draw infinite lines is somewhat analogous, at least in principle, to how a touchscreen stylus works. And though the tip does wear out over time, Fabi assures that the effect is so microscopic and gradual that users won’t even notice. "
Wow, so the tip is a catalyst that corrupts the paper.
This is a genius idea.
Question, what is Ethergraf ?Does it contain lead like the Beta Inkless Pen?Why so expensive? And is it filled with Ethergraf inside or just the nib?If it is Just the nib I would imagine it would be used up too soon.

I never talk about writing related stuff without personal experience about the product I talk about. I owned a 4.EVER standard, before giving it to a friend as a gift, as I simply stopped using all kind of pencils. I can assure you that, as long as you apply a very little pressure on the tip and you don't wait too long after having written, the lines traced with this pen/pencil can indeed be erased. I don't know if it is supposed to happen or not, nor I know if Napkin tried to correct this changing the composition of the Ethergraf alloy (being an industrial secret). Then, if you don't believe me, you can still find a local store that allows you to try it out. p.s.: BTW, if you visit Cultepens.com, one of the largest writing related online stores in Europe, you'll see that they too assert that the 4.EVER is indeed eraseable.
DeathWatch
Just to clarify, because many people have asked: no, the Ethergraf tip does not contain lead.
I like the looks, but it sounds like it needs the "stone paper" to work well. Not very practical if so.

Hrm. The one video I found on YouTube that appeared to be an actual review is in a language I don't understand -- but watching it being used, it appeared to require a great deal of force to draw even a mild line.
The concern I have is that almost every review I've read talks about how Napkin 4.EVER devices are ineffective on normal paper, and will tear lighter paper before leaving a mark.
While I usually have a notepad around, I do somewhat frequently use scrap paper, post-its, and even the occasional napkin (hah!) to scribble something down. Do you happen to have any photos you'd be willing to share of writing on surfaces like that? How does this compare to writing with a old graphite pencil?

I purchased one through Amazon because I wanted aluminum. I am returning it. It was difficult to write with, and difficult to read. Barely visible on a yellow legal pad, which is what I use mainly.
