Will this allow pass-through charging (i.e. I can charge the battery pack itself while using the battery pack to charge my devices?

mikjamzWhy would you ever need such a thing? Why not just charge whatever device directly to the wall AND charge the power bank directly to the wall as well? Just buy your typical single to dual (or quad depending on your needs) outlet adapter, a single power outlet can charge far more than 4 devices so there is no issue there...

AngryAccountantBut it's not a UPS (UPS' do more than just allow you to run your computer when the power gets cut, and this thing does none of them), and doesn't claim to be one, it's a power bank... No one would be using this to power a desktop computer, even if it was possible to do so, especially considering there is only a single AC outlet... Beyond that, there would be laptops, tablets and smartphones, which already have internal batteries, so a UPS type device would be worthless for those devices...
If you need a UPS, buy a UPS... If you need more battery life than your mobile devices are able to offer, buy this... There's no need to complicate things...

d3v14n7I agree, what I was saying is that the passthrough ability is UPS like, hence the appeal for some people.

d3v14n7I agree with the AngryAccountant's comments here. For work I have a Siemens G40 "semi"-portable ultrasound device. It is a legacy device without a battery backup supply that takes a few minutes to shutdown and restart between rooms in my clinic (I work as a doctor). I was hoping to get a battery supply that allowed pass-through charging or a UPS (with similar function) to keep my device powered on while transporting it between patient rooms. I don't know of a reasonably priced device which can meet this use scenario though because the device states the max power draw is 600 VA. I think due to that statistic, only a UPS can meet that kind of power draw, but of course it probably isn't drawing that kind of power all the time. I just don't know if a true "battery backup" can meet the power draw of this device or not. It's just that battery backups have better life than a UPS for buying me enough time to get ~20 minutes of charge time per day. Note that I only have 1 plug for the device, not multiple. I'm open to any advice on what to look into. As for now, I found some expensive (>$150) UPS devices which might work but was hoping to get something more reasonable. Any words of advice for that use?

mikjamzI'm far from an expert on medical equipment, but after looking around for a few minutes, there seems to be multiple "standby" battery units for your specific ultrasound device, meaning the battery will only hold up if the device is in standby mode, which tells me that the device draws a lot of power (far more than this tiny battery bank is able to offer), it's essentially a laptop + the actual ultrasound device right? I'd say that's far too much for this to even come close to handling... Although prices aren't listed for the standby battery units, it says contact for quote, which typically means very expensive...
Also, would you really want to trust this battery bank to power your incredibly expensive and quite fragile medical ultrasound device? I wouldn't take that chance, especially if it's the only ultrasound device you have... I'd suggest you contact Siemens for a quote on a standby battery which was specifically made to work with your ultrasound device, I wouldn't trust cheap, chinese battery banks like this when it comes to crucial medical devices in a doctor's office... It's fine for consumer electronics like smartphones, tablets and even laptops, but I wouldn't bring it anywhere near expensive medical devices...

mikjamz...a doctor who complains about $150 expense and continues to use a "legacy" device which obviously is not designed to be portable? Are you for real? Why don't you purchase a REAL ultrasound which IS portable or get a UPS from Costco who will allow you to exchage it after heavy daily on-of cycles within two years. $150 you cheap f.....
