Does anybody know how easy it is to program one of these? I've never had a mechanical and I'm not sure if I should join the drop since people say you can't reprogram the first layer. Does this mean I can't change the layout on the PC? How do I program special characters into the second layer, for example "Ñ"?

Toast25There are 4 different layers on the board, the default layer isn't programmable, but the other 3 are. No software needed, you simply use the PN/FN keys to program it. It's very easy to do, and the online manual is very easy to follow with examples.

bottom_kekAlright, so does the first layer not being programmable mean that I can be on the first layer and press, for example, fn+L and have it produce a programmed key? Or would I have to switch layers?
Also, does programming a combination mean I type in the keys I want it to type, for example, the word "hello" or does it mean I can type in an alt code to get whatever character I want? Or can I do both?
Sorry for all the noob questions, I haven't been in this mech keyboard thing very long.

Toast25The first layer has preprogrammed FN combos. You would have to switch layers, but you could leave it on layer 2 or whatever layer you want. I mainly use layer 2 on my Pok3r, so it's almost always on that layer. The board itself stores your configuration, so it won't revert to the default layer every time you turn off your computer. You are able to record full macros to keys, so FN+'h' could type out 'hello' (or you could do single characters as well). You may not be able to program alt codes without having another keyboard available since there isn't a numpad.

bottom_kekHave you found this for the new Poker II?  A number of us who got them in the last drop found that if you are in the programmable layers and program a to be "123" when you hit Pn+a you get a, and you get 123 if you hit just the a key.  It makes it basically impossible to program on the layers because you can't type normally on them.  My understanding is that this is not how the process works on the Pok3r (I don't have one).
iKBC is allegedly working on a new firmware for this keyboard to resolve this.

bottom_kekWhat you say is exact on the manual but incorrect in practice. @crodge2k give a good example of one of the layer problem. I can add that you can't reprogram default Fn keys even in layer 1,2,3 (Fn+w/a/s/d/i/;/. etc. are not reprogrammable what ever the layer). The firmware is supposed to modify this.

crodge2kI unfortunately can't speak to this as I don't own the PII and only have a Pok3r RGB. That does sound like the FN+RShift toggle is on? It acts as a sort of 'caps lock' but for the PN key. It may indeed be a firmware issue, since @Narann is also saying the same thing, but it could be something to try.
