The naming of these boards is ridiculous and confusing. I'm glad I bought my Pok3r when I did -- MX Clears, 3 programmable layers, white backlight. Bought a simple USB Mini-B to USB-C cable for my work MacBook, and some nice PBT keycaps, and I'm all set. I just with they'd figure out a better naming scheme so one can easily know "ok, this is the next version of the product and is improved for X Y Z reasons over the previous iteration"

ForralWell the new Poker 2 is the improved Poker 2, and the Pok3r has no updated version. Are the release dates confusing you? New Poker 2 is newer than Pok3r.

I've also been wandering why the company that released Poker 3 (POK3R) is called KBC

I agree with you. I think that the companies, the names, and the models are all super confusing.
And I do not recommend buying this keyboard. It comes with a plastic case, and it isn't customizable like the poker 3!
Just grab the poker 3, everyone.

topreisdopreSo here's the deal with the naming issues people are having. There are two companies that are using the name "Poker" for their 60% keyboards (which have very similar feature sets). The most recent versions of the boards made by iKBC and Vortex are the "New Poker II" and the "Pok3r", respectively.

topreisdopreHmm... It seems like Vortex actually manufactures all of them, but different communities have different designs that they sell. This site gives a pretty good breakdown: https://www.keychatter.com/2015/02/10/vortex-vs-kbt-vs-kbc-vs-kbp-what-are-the-differences/. I guess KBC was renamed it iKBC due to some kind of trademark dispute (https://deskthority.net/wiki/KBC). Also, I learned that KBC is supposed to stand for "The Keyboard to Cheer you up". :)

BearitureI think the description wrote on the site(https://www.keychatter.com/2015/02/10/vortex-vs-kbt-vs-kbc-vs-kbp-what-are-the-differences/) is lil bit wrong because "Vortex Gear" is not a 'Korean' keyboard manufacturer but 'Taiwan' keyboard manufacturer as I know.
Many people says that iKBC and Vortex is the same company but I'm still confused cause of the difference in quality between new poker 2 and pok3r.

topreisdopreI definitely agree with you Dopre. New poker II's position of usb port is different from pok3r's, so any case does not fit to it.

BmannerYeah, I totally agree. iKBC has a bunch of their own products, ranging from the KD series to the MF series to the F series.
However, I did hear from paul.hudgins and others that they are the same company nonetheless. My guess at it is that the iKBC is the slightly "cheaper" or more mainstream sub-brand of Vortex and their keyboards. (NOT saying that iKBC keyboards are of bad quality - they still seem of a great value).
But as you said, there is very limited customizability and worse build quality on this New Poker II, so I would advise anyone to spend about 40$ more on a Poker 3 (Pok3r). I mean, you do get a much better product with the poker 3.

Want to build a Clicky Mech Keyboard. Where to begin?
Hello all. Am brand new to the idea of building my own keyboard. Have not a clue where to begin this process. I am a Sim Game enthusiast. American Truck Sim, DCS Flight Sim and goes from there. Need some real help on where to start for making my own Full Size, Clickey Mechanical KB. I want each key to have its own backlighting. Are there keys that are better than others for this? Does the ALT v2 PCBA support USB-C e-marked cables?
Currently my ALT v1 does not work with e-marked USB-C cables. I was wondering if the v2 PCBA does support these types of cables (thunderbolt 4 cable for example)?

How do you do per-key RGB lighting on a Shift V2?
I saw the online configurator that lets you do this on the Shift V1, where it spits out a compiled firmware file to flash. The V2 doesn't seem to have this function in the Windows configurator, though. I can't imagine the answer here is "you're going to have to manually write the hex for every key in QMK, compile it, and flash that".
