I like the look of it, just wish it came in something more exotic.

glennacAt least with a "tactical" pen you can answer the question: what differentiates a "tactical" pen from one that is not?
The answer being that the "tactical" has a part that has been specifically designed for hitting people...er, I mean car windows. Specifically designed to break car windows. Not skulls. It COULD do that, but that's not what its designed for.
Like my paperweight--sure, its shaped like brass knuckles, it's exactly the right size to slip onto the fingers and hold while making a fist, and it's made of solid brass, but that's just to add some fun style to an otherwise boring old paperweight. It's designed to hold down paper, and that's all it's designed for.

HatuletohVirtually any pen can be used to defend oneself (as demonstrated by Jason Bourne 😉). Shouldn’t all Bic and Pentel products be marketed as “Tactical” then?
My my point is, it’s just a silly marketing word that means nothing anymore. And makes the average Joe feel like he’s tougher than he really is If he’s carrying around a “tactical“ object. He needs to get over himself - it’s just a pen.

glennacman, I really would've liked for them to show me how to get the knife attachment out but I do understand why it's not included - it loses its tacticity if you had a manual show up on the internet. how else would you successfully defend yourself against some interloper, "ah, I know that pen! It's one of them tactical ones with the hidden knife!" and there goes all your hidden advantage.
*sigh*

glennacI unreservedly agree with everything you said, and was being sarcastic, which isnt the best idea when using the written word to communicate, since sarcasm is so reliant of non- verbal communication to be conveyed. Apologies, I just cant resist being a smart ass sometimes. Most times. Nearly all the time, to be honest.
But I had to reply to make sure NO ONE counted me even as a defender of the overuse and abuse of the"tactical" designation to sell crap. The only thing truly tactical is the appropriation of that term by marketing copy writers. And clumsy tacticians they have turned out to be with that.

glennacI'm just going to play devil's advocate for a moment, just to humor the conversation. If a "military or police officer" stabbed someone with their pen, there may be a question of whether that was appropriate use of force for the situation. However, if the pen was used for leverage in a restraining technique, the "officer" would less likely be scrutinized. There's a higher probability of a bic pen failing when acting as a leverage force multiplier. A metal pen with a sturdy enough section is less likely to fail and, if used by an "officer" to gain a particular objective (i.e. restraint), is therefore considered a tactical tool. Edit: having said that... I don't know if I'd like using this "hole-y" pen for leverage or striking; seems painful. Double Edit: Doh... necro conversation.
