What would be the purpose of the UV version? Night video work?

GrumpyCamperFrom what I can tell, the UV on a headlamp would be used for spotting scorpions while walking/running/whatever at night since they glow under UV light. It could also be handy for mechanics/plumbers/tradespeople etc. for locating HVAC leaks.
Red is still your best bet for keeping your eyes adjusted to the dark.

_megapixelHonestly, I haven't a clue how that works. I was just going by the info I found here: http://www.flashlightuniversity.com/led-colors-and-uses/

_megapixelUV lights are used to detect HVAC freon leaks, but only after someone puts dye in the system, and that dye has had time to circulate throughout the system. If there is a leak, the UV will show the location of the leak where the fluorescent dye is exiting the system. They sell kits at auto stores with a small UV light, some dye, and fittings to introduce the dye into the system. Hope this helps.
Also, at 405NM, this UV light will appear very purple. The best wavelength would be a 365NM UV light. Doesn't look like much when you turn it on (and you shouldn't look directly at it, unless you wish to damage your eyes!) in that it appears to barely emit any light, however, when you shine it on anything fluorescent or photoluminescence, it'll light up bright.
