Can be found cheaper elsewhere

I’ve been shopping here for several years and have probably made around 30 purchases. Maybe more. This site used to have the best deals, unique gear or partnerships you could only find here, or obscure really cool stuff that you’d be hard pressed to find elsewhere or even be aware of. That is no longer the case. They are a straight product amalgamator that harvests junk “deals” now and people should be made aware. I said “cheaper elsewhere” because it was available cheaper on several other reputable vendor sites besides Amazon or Walmart. The business model has changed here and it’s unfortunate. Sorry if you find it tacky to be reminded of that.

TPeterson13I don't think people need to be made aware of Drop's downhill slide. The regulars can see it plainly enough (and still find the occasional deal or compelling Drop exclusive), and newbies will learn relatively painlessly. This is still Drop.com, and whatever your views on capitalism their model seems to be working well enough for them. If they continue to ignore complaints and suggestions, the business will suffer eventually.

I've had two of these and have lost them both—no fault of the light! The low mode is very low, and the high mode is jarring. I got the Nitecore LR10 and have been much happier with it. It's larger, but the weight is the same once you add the battery to the UL360. The Nitecore likewise has a magnet, provides a larger range of modes (with light that is not less powerful but generally more diffuse), and is USB rechargeable. If you want to work on a car engine or other spot work, possibly a slight edge to the Nextorch, whose illumination can be more precisely "directed"—almost like a flashlight with an extremely diffuse beam. But in a tent or on a bedside table or in a power outage (have used both lanterns for that situation), the edge goes considerably to the Nitecore. The Nextorch is more like your existing pocket flashlight plus a diffuser, but with a dedicated purpose, and a magnetic tail that your flashlight may not have. The Nitecore is an entirely different tool. The catch is that the Nitecore is undeniably more expensive. The UL360 is around $20, roughly factoring in tax and shipping (or lack thereof). Nitecore is almost twice that (expect to pay $35 and up, though you can occasionally find it for closer to $30). But if this is going to be used more than once or twice a year, not just sit in a bag as a notional backup, go for the Nitecore, assuming you can justify the cost.

I like mine a lot. While not ideal for edc, it is quite useful. I sometimes throw it in my pocket in place of one of my go-to flashlights, kinda the way I'll carry a clip-less knife in my pocket for a different feel. Good nightstand light, not too bright nor too white for a trip through the hallway (though having to cycle through the default high mode is a little inconvenient). I've stuck it to the underside of a hood to check oil, and use it in place of my car's dome light (I'm too lazy to figure out why my dome doesn't work). I've even set it on my drawing pad and angled it down for some extra detail light. Very versatile little lantern-light.

just wanted to point out that after removing the giant heavy magnet and yoke from one of mine i decided to try throwing a neodymium magnet under the spring in the cap and viola it now will stick to the fridge and anything else magnetic. my plan is to carry and extra magnet with me and use that to mount to the tent fabric and what not.

Ok so first impression is good with a touch of disappointment. Its a bunch heavier than i expected. Light is otherwise great. Im looking for a way to remove the magnetic base and clip without damaging it since i can do without that when backpacking. It points 360° for those of you who didnt understand the engrish.
Lighting is great, i especially appreciate the long life on low. The plastic tube is a solid hunk of plastic feel, when i first got it out of the package i thought for a second that the tube was glass or ceramic or something.
So mostly is fits my bill of single cell, lightweight, simple lantern. I still wonder if the nitecore la10 wouldn't better fit my requirements.

This arrived prior to the expected ship date, which was a nice surprise (but a day after a power outage, ironically). I picked this up to keep with my drawing supplies, to fill in when available light is insufficient. The white plastic helps diffuse the bright light, so it's less harsh and more spread out, this offers hands-free versatility, the light can be directed (unlike using a standard flashlight hands-free), and there's a decent run time for my needs (I can easily toss a spare USB rechargeable battery in my box). The twist on/off/mode is a bit awkward, but I'm not sure any other means of operation would be less so, given the design (which is essential to it's purpose). Yes, it is essentially a flashlight in a tube, but it's the white plastic tube and the stand that make it work for my needs. Spouse likes it so much that we'll have to get another one, or mine might vanish! I think this would also be a nice option for live streaming, photography, travel, reading, writing, (and obviously camping, hunting, fishing and power outages), or anything else where you might want a bright white light with reduced glare and high portability.

@TheMantledMaven - What an excellent review, thank you so much for sharing your experience with this product. I may just have to get one next go-round to put in with my art supplies as well!
