D3300 is a pretty good entry level dlsr. Nice and light and easy to use. Kit lens is surprisingly sharp as well. However its lacking a few things, like HDR (not to be confused with HDR painting), not enough focus points and a lack of the ability to setup your own custom menu and a second control wheel ( for when you want to use manual mode). Also lacking a deep grip, so if you have big hands, consider going with one of the D7000 dlsrs as they have much nicer grips. The lack of an internal focus motor focuses you to use Nikon's more newer lenses instead of some of the older lenses (like the 50mm f1.8 D that is currently on Massdrop, great lens btw).
