Just looked at the Nitecore store and there's a compatible clicky tailcap switch for <$10 which would give me set & forget operation and I already have 18650 batteries/chargers for a couple other lights. I suspect also that this light will run on 2xCR123A batteries as well, I have a couple 18650 lights that came with a thin sleeve to take up the slightly smaller diameter of the smaller CR123s. A stack of two is the same height, so they'd likely still work even without the sleeve; they'll just rattle a bit. As to the no batteries included, that's fine. Buy decent ones - there's a LOT of crap out there - and pay attention to the mAh rating: the more the better, but most of what can be found online is, ah, grossly misrepresented. They'll work - most of the time - but won't have nearly the runtime or amp-hr rating claimed. I.m going to get in on this - seems like a decent set, and now that I know I can on/off via tailcap, it's even more attractive.

FYI, this light is intended for protected button-top 18650's that are nominally ~69 mm long.

Can someone please help me understand how/where the two rubber o-rings that come with these flashlights go?
jlolothe O rings go (generally) wherever the body separates, usually at the tailcap and where the head threads on. Keep them someplace you can find them; tho most lights have some sort of "storage groove" on the body, I find they get rolled off and lost as the light goes in and out of my pocket. They seem to eventually dry rot, whether you use the light or not, so I try to keep the spares in an airtight container (35mm film canister leftover from days of yore). sorry for the late reply...tho I'm curious: did you end up getting in on that drop and, if so, whaddaya think of the light?

I put an 18650 battery in it and it didnt work. The battery isn't a typical 18650, waiting to get a new one. In May. That's covid. How long do I have before I can't return it?

Is the rotary dial also the on/off switch? I want an infinitely-variable light with a tail switch that turns it on to whatever brightness you left the dial at.
LeoangerThe rotary dial is the on/off switch. Rotate clockwise to turn on and increase brightness. Off the top of my head I don't know if what you are looking for exists, but I will keep my eye out for lights with that feature.

kstokleyThank you. Maybe I'm asking too much; at least this one doesn't default to turbo every time you turn it on!

OK when I shake mine, my 18650 rattles and it looses connection. Gunna ask about a refund but it think it's a shitty spring design.

Why does it list a battery in the specs, but it doesn't come with a battery. Nor does it say anywhere battery not included.

Almost every single decent torch I've bought comes with a battery. Most of them with a rechargable 18650. This is very "meh" value. I'll stick with Fenix lights

Tbh not specifically saying "battery not included" or "flashlight + holster only" is the real standard of consumer products. Literally every product you buy has that listed. It's misleading, hopefully unintentionally. Shame but I'm glad I read the comments. Guess this one's a pass for me.
