I was really looking forward to joining this drop but then I saw the $40 SHIPPING CHARGE. Massdrop, what are you doing...
No color option... booo!! I want the white version!
But what does it weigh with the headband included?
Shipping to Australia is $32USD. Is that a typo? It cant actually be right its absurd.

You can get them from Aliexpress for $36US with free shipping to aus
Hkrboi
is it the same?
This price on the drop isn't really all that great. Last month I picked one up directly from Nitecore for $31.41 shipped. I'm sure Nitecore will have a Black Friday/holiday sale that will beat this drop price and ship faster. FYI - this is an awesome little light!
How much force is required to press the buttons on top? I've had lots of problems with headlamps drained by getting activated in my pack. In the past I've resolved this by sculpting a protective bezel around the buttons from sugru. I'm concerned that this design has the buttons prominently proud of the upper surface. I see that it has a lockout mode but I've had issues with electronic lockouts - if the pack gets leaned or set down such that the buttons are pressed, it's often for long enough to deactivate the lock.

Doesn't take a wild amount of force to press, but you have to get both down within a second of each other. Haven't had any problems with it in 2 months of trail.
That said, the nu20 has a cover on the frame that blocks the button, but lacks the red light setting
$2.75 shipping for US residents which means $29.99 + $2.75 = 32.74 - 36.95 (Amazon price for the last month) = $4.21 savings for this drop. Really?
40$ shipping...LOL...

More like COL (crying out loud) ...
$32.00 shipping to Australia for me. I've been looking at getting one of these but lol no thanks. That's $62 USD... plus the the typical 1.5-2month Massdrop wait.

For anyone from Aus that wants one of these, here's one from a guy in Melbourne. $54 AUD including shipping ($40 USD) https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NiteCore-NU25-Cree-XP-G2-S3-WHITE-CRI-RED-USB-Rechargeable-Headlight-Headlamp-Wh/222922006191?epid=8018011625&hash=item33e72fdeaf:g:-DwAAOSwmBxa0E-r

An insult to be charged $30 to Aus. In the past I have found MD to be good on shipping. I am out.
Where are you located that you're seeing 30 or 40 dollar shipping? It's $2.75 for me...

I've bought plenty of stuff from massdrop and their shipping rates to Australia are usually quite reasonable. I've purchased many things way heavier and bulkier than this for less than $10 shipping.
$32 shipping for a lightweight headlamp? That's a joke.
Amazon on the other hand, i find, usually has expensive shipping prices to Australia (or no shipping to Australia at all)
spiznas
I believe it's related to having a built-in lithium ion battery.
$32 Shipping!? For a lamp that's "about the size of a box of matches"?
I'm out.
ceeekay
A **1 oz** box of matches. When the Massdrop-controlled shipping costs exceed the cost of the product, but they can ship to "ecoleman" above for $2.75, but you are $32 and I am $35, it is not just illogical, it is insulting!
I'm out too :-(
For UL lighting IMO this is the best in brand currently.
Hi. Maybe this is addressed somewhere but I missed it. (I use a mobile device to access Massdrop 99% of the time. Maybe it's easier to find using a non mobile computer.) Question for Massdrop: how is it that a 5oz stove (heavy compared to many current options) is currently listed in Ultralight, while a 1-2oz headlamp (a lightweight high-output headlight option) is listed in Everyday Carry, Outdoors? To help me find items of interest to purchase, could Massdrop kindly help me understand the logic when listing items in Everyday Carry, Outdoor, and the Ultralight communities? I'm particularly interested in lighter weight backpacking items. Thank you very much.
And while I have the floor :), if Massdrop is really an online "Community," why are these questions so often treated by Massdrop as a one-way discourse as opposed to discussions that get meaningful replies? For example, there are innumerable requests for news about drops (that have over the 200 interested people threshold) that are simply ignored. It's hard to support a community without communication. Thanks again.
Mid brightness lasting for several hours? Pass. Get a Petzl.
40$ for shipping?!?!?!

$40.5 shipping charge... this doesn't make any sense
is the battery replaceable?
EZ_living
Simple answer, no.
I was about to pick this up but the shipping was $35!! on a $32 light?! Who does massdrop think they're fooling?

Looks like it has been updated to $2.75
HikingDawg
Must be $2.75 to US addresses only. I'm in Canada and once again, it's $35 for shipping. Ridiculous!
The 1 oz weight listed is for the light itself, not including the headband, correct?
HikingDawg
Light itself. headband is another 1 oz. Just make yourself an ultralight band with some cord.
With Amazon you get choice of colors which could make it easier to find.
Necred
and free next day delivery! 30 day return policy too.
Necred
I mean, this is bright yellow, unless I drop it into a huge pile of bananas.
MD, how do we do better with these drops? This is currently on Amazon for $36.95, with Prime free 2 day shipping. I thought the point was to get a good deal because we (the MD community) commit to buy in multiples?
marcel_mercer
Agree. Just the black color is available with free shipping (not Prime) for $34.95. It looks like a great rechargeable headlamp. I’m deciding between the yellow with Prime, or saving two bucks.
