pa-redwoodYou can do a lot better than $50 for four batteries. I've had good experience with the brand Orbtonic, they use Japanese Panasonic cells and then add protection, all in Japan. Currently I have 4 3500mah ($15 per) ones in my Nitecore TM26, and I have 5 3400mah ones ($10 per) in my smaller lights. The smaller ones have long out lived my expectations, I bought 6 almost 5 years ago, and 5 of them are still going on, but have lost fair amount of capacity as expected.
You can get protected 3200mah and lower ones very cheap, less than $10 per, from trustworthy brands like Nitecore, Orbtonic, Olight, Fenix, ect...
