Hi, this question might have been answered already, sorry for asking again: The last time this Nomos drop happened was back in 2016, generally how many requests does it take for a Drop to happen again ? I assume these are few of the relatively pricey watches available on Massdrop, so drops must be seldom with limited number of watches available ?

Can someone tell me what's so special about the nomos neomatik (which i believe is the DUW3001)? is it just the 1st edition of their in-house swing movement watch? What is the difference between the Neomatik and the Nomos Swing System? Thanks in advance!

Most of the newer watches are DUW now and i remember reading somewhere theyre switch to all in house eventually. So isnt that the same as neomatik? all in house movement?

TayathNo, the Neomatik is just Nomos' term for their new automatic movement. Most of their older watches are handwound with movement names like Alpha, Beta, Zeta. These are "in house" made movements, but they are still just modified versions of existing movements and use a Swiss-sourced escapement. When Nomos made their own escapement, the Swing System, it was a big deal. All their new watches use the Swing System escapement.
A few years ago Nomos made a new automatic movement, and all the new watches with this movement have the "Neomatik" moniker. The other handwound movements will not be Neomatik, but as long as they have the Swing System they are about as all in-house as it gets.

@IanAnderson Is this drop going to happen? I have my eyes on a beautiful Junghans otherwise ;-) Any indication of timing would be a welcome reprieve!

@IanAnderson - Is there a reason why the prices are not listed for finished drops? It might help in planning such future purchases...

The biggest one is that our vendors don't want us displaying prices after a drop ends. Hiding this info allows us to work with better brands that have strong policies against advertising prices below other retailers.
Another is that prices can (and do) change from time to time. Material costs, available quantities, conversion rates, etc. can all affect drop price. For instance, this drop could potentially be affected if the USD:euro rate changed dramatically since we last ran it.

I hate that Massdrop doesn't keep the price listed for finished drops. How much were they selling for?

I really believe Massdrop are doing these expensive drops poorly.
How much was this watch - between $2000 and $3000? Massdrop is that last counter as you're exiting the store. It's for impulse buys. No one has $2000-$3000 saved up ready for a Massdrop to drop.
Why doesn't Massdrop pre organise these drops with a countdown before it starts of several months, so people have a schedule of when these are to go and people can actually save for these luxury items that they're interested in?
Food for thought, and hopefully you don't just go ignoring posts like these...

What you describe just isn't feasible, unfortunately. There's already so much work that goes into getting a drop up, that we can't forecast them out months in advance for you (often our vendors have limited stock, so if we want to offer them at all we have to move fast). The best way to be notified of a drop is to hit the request button so you'll get an email if it comes back.
Keep in mind that we have millions of members on this site, so saying things like "Massdrop is that last counter as you're exiting the store" and "No one has $2000-$3000 saved up ready for a Massdrop to drop" aren't really correct on a broader scale - our userbase shops in many different ways.

What was the price on these and still no answer on where they were sourced from? Too many counterfeits out there in watch-land. I'd love to participate but if they aren't being sources from AD's, I'll have to sit out on these.. :-(
