If you're going for absolute $ price, then yea, $1,770 is lower. But it's not apples to apples since you're arguably getting less:
$1,888 for sapphire caseback against MSRP of $2,360 is 20% off.
$1,770 for stainless steel caseback against an MSRP of $2,020 is 12.4% off.
Relatively, the $1,880 is a better deal as a percentage savings from MSRP.
Like I said, the Club was a better deal. A similar deal on the Orion would be great for anyone interested. As it stands, it's not that great IMO.

Either Massdrop have the wrong MSRP or the wrong model numbers. As far as I'm aware both the 306 and the 309 have the sapphire caseback. If they truly do only have the steel caseback, then I think the model numbers should be 331 and 301 respectively.
Perhaps come clarification is required.

l3xm4rkGood catch - you're correct. These are the 306 and 309 with sapphire crystal caseback. (Which means all of the models in this drop have display casebacks.) I've updated the Description page.

Drop looks a little weak... at least for the base models, didn't look at the other models. For being effectively grey market here, Jomashop has the sapphire case back 35mm Orion's for $1888, which is 20% off MSRP, these steel casebacks are like 13% off MSRP.
Club drop was better proposition at 25% off MSRP, iirc.
