ares347And you're serious? It's a portable transistor AM radio--what a lot of people first heard the Beatles and Rolling Stones through, but I'm guessing you probably missed that decade? Anyway, they all had wonderful, tinny-sounding 2 or 3 inch speakers and ran on nine volt batteries. They often came with a little single-sided earphone, but most people just held the radio up to their ear and bobbed their heads up and down to the music.

johnpalacioI actually had a "BOYS" transistor radio. They must have been pretty inexpensive, because on Christmas my father gave them to each of his three kids and all four of my cousins. I used to listen to KHJ (Los Angeles) late at night, under the covers, with my high-quality, audiophile-grade, head set:
