Another ridiculous product from the visionaries at Massdrop . I'm surprised it's not tactical. Who chooses what goes on here?!?!?! Having spent a solid 12 years in fine dining I can't say I've ever seen or heard of this. A chainmail glove for shucking oysters, yes. A chainmail square for scrubbing cast iron, yes. Both make perfect sense and I have used them. How many years of the television cooking show revolution are we currently in? First season of Top Chef was 2006, 11 years later and how many cooking shows watched and I've never seen anything like this product. How does a chain mail blanket of rings that by their very nature have holes in them keep in moisture? This should be sold with automatic banana peelers and taco shell toasters. There is a similar product from a UK company called RoastEasy. Sells for roughly $50 US but is currently unavailable for purchase for whatever reason. Probably a copyright infringement battle with makers of this turd of a product. In their website under the "how to use info", it states, "Before cooking place your RoastEasy over the roast before inserting into the oven." The very next sentence says "For use after cooking remove the roast from the oven simply cover with the RoastEasy allowing roast to rest and retain it's heat whilst it relaxes." Wait a minute, if this things sole purpose and design is to cover meat while roasting why on Earth would you not use it but wait until the roast comes out and then drape this stupid thing over it to retain heat "whilst" it relaxes?!?!? So by that logic should it be heated before draping over the cooked roast? They don't say to so how does draping cool or room temperature chainmail help the roast retain heat. Wouldn't basic thermodynamics dictate it would act as a heat sink and draw heat away from the roast? Am I wrong with that train of thought? Massdrop can you have people who have some knowledge about cooking please choose the cooking products and stop shilling ridiculous products.
