Elite__rcThis has been covered by MD in one of the prior drops. They want to have an automotive category and you have to start somewhere. Just like they had to with any of the other existing categorizes...including everyone's favorite Headphones.
Plus Corvettes are popular plentiful and their owner actually have money...at least compared to the cheap skate poser ricer fest of the current generation of Subaru, Honda and Toyota "automotive enthusiasts".

LxJLthrJust because Corvette isn't Japanese doesn't make this mod 'ricer'. Carbon fiber hood vents give you 5 more horsepower yo. People not being able to afford or have the 'good taste' to own a Corvette doesn't make them any less of an auto enthusiast.

Silicone_DuckyYou are correct. No vehicle manufacturer or owner demographic is immune from questionable modification or financial decisions. The frequency and/or trend for those decisions is where the difference will be IMHO. I was merely providing generalized summary behind this category origination.
And every person will have a different definition of what's qualifies as 'rice'. Personally, I do not have a problem with well integrated and executed visual modifications whether or not they are my cup of tea. I am sure enough people have the same opinion about $500 headphones, watches and keyboards on this site as you do about $500 C/F vents. Brilliant. To each their own. At the end of the day we all here for the same reason :)

Elite__rcIt'll probably be just like the vaping category where it went from vaping to weed. This will turn into camaros, hondas, and 240sx's eventually, and by eventually I mean next month because nobody has bought anything on most of these drops.

LxJLthrI think it's great that they want to have an automotive category, but it would make more sense to start off with cars that have a larger following, and let it take off from there. Dismissing a group of cars because they're Japanese and cheap is ignorance in the extreme. Some of the most fun you can have on a track or SCCA event is still in an old Miata, or the newer FR-S/BRZ. Both of these have a far stronger following, stronger modification support, and a customer base that has more of a tendency to modify.

LowBatteryLifeI totally agree with rockin' a Miata around the track! Fun and cheap (relatively). Hypothetically, what other Makes would you like to see on MD?
