really a beautiful watch and i understand the quality of the miyota mvmt...still it is hard to imagine paying over $400 for a miyota movement diver when i just purchased an eta 2824 Steinhart diver for under $400. i have a larger wrist and DO love hockey puck watches and the Steinhart was even a bit small for my tastes so i understand the smaller size coming into play...and the case of this is a wonderful replica of 50s rolex diver casing...still, the pricing has left me behind tho otherwise i would enjoy having one of these.

Ranchmebroagreed, it is close, and if having a non-swiss movement in a watch even at $400 didn't perturb me, i'd get it. i know people agree/and don't agree with my point of view. and it is subjective. but for even $400 i'd like one of the higher end Seiko divers or a watch, as with my new Steinhart, that has a Swiss movement. with the euro what it is, the cost of the Steinhart was about $370 including shipping, which i admit is a steal. so the näckens are very cool, but when speaking of a bit of money, if there is anything about a watch that doesn't sit right at that pricepoint, it's as if the glove does not fit. you must acquit (yourself of the purchase).
i will say, this price is a significant reduction on what you can get anywhere else, so for anyone who even slightly wants one, this is the chance. they are beauts, no doubt.

johnnyjohnnyfair enough. I have normal (small?) wrists so that steinhart would look comical on me; even the seikos are just a big bigger. the size of this watch is perfect, the movement may not be anything special but it's proven to work, and at this price it's very tempting IMO

johnnyjohnny$400 will only get you a Seiko with a low-beat 6r15 movement which sucks compared to the 9015.

Opusfrom what i've read the 6r15 is a more refined, more accurate movement per those who have both, and while they're described as comparable more people who have them both say they prefer the seiko. but that's all way beyond me, all my certified Japanese diver watches are seikos with the 7s36 and very honestly they have beat new rolex chronometers i've owned...not claiming they're better, just that they have. my point is that for that $400 or bumping up to $500 which is way less than this watch normally goes for, you can get the Steinharts with an xlnt Swiss eta in it that kix all of these vis a vis stats. my real point is that if i'm going to get what once was rudely described to me as a three-way watch (different case manufacturer, different movement manufacturer, different brand on the dial than the case & movement maker), it needs something beyond a Chinese made case and miyota auto movement in it, as good as the movement is. of course this is just personal, but many people for $400 plus would agree. if i'm going for that price i would get the seiko just for purity of a completely one maker product. just personal prejudice but i prefer having on my wrist a less expensive skx007 with its classic iconic integrity than a startup creation comprised of 2-3 countries' parts even a few years old.
take no offense, these are just my views & i understand loving this watch despite the mix and match nature of it which leaves me cold at this price. the best part of these offerings is trading views on why we like what we do, and i appreciate viewpoints to the opposite of mine. still, i think i have prejudices against watches with cool German names (ok, don't hate me for this) like panzera that drops an economy Japanese auto movement into the watch and markets it like it has a pedigree from a WW2 luftwaffe timepiece maker. it's a bit cornball...and again, just personal subjectivity. that said, this is a hot looking watch with technically very good components and i'd love to have one. but i'd peak out at $350 for looks, all else being equal.

johnnyjohnnyAs owner of 6 Steinhart, I know all about them, like them and compare them to my 7 watches with 9015 inside, they are as accurate and reliable as the ETA. I don't dare handwind my 2824 for fear of wearing out parts as a watchmaker posted on WUS forum. This NTH will be my 8th 9015 watch. The 6r15 doesn't compare. It is a rough, low-beat over priced movement, same as the 4r35 with only a slightly longer PR. The 2824 and 9015 are in a much higher league of movement. No watch with a 6r15 is worth more than $300.

Opuswell, sounds like you're pulling the trigger on one of these. should look nice. we each do have our own views on what makes a watch tick. i'm currently waiting on my Oris 65 diver, which will be the last watch i buy for awhile. of course i thought my recently acquired Steinhart military vintage 2 would be. that only cost me $378 delivered to california. hell if i'd pay more for a näcken (which means 'nails' in German?). that would be insulting to my Steinhart. enjoy the näcken tho.

Opuscool stuff. when i make a bunch of money i'll try catching up with you. i do have a Damasko with the Damest coating (Damnedest strong coating, i like to call it) with the minute marked dual directional bezel...helluva a watch. but like you, i enjoy the diver stuff (Damasko as you know are really pilots' watches) so i get a lot of joy from my humble Seiko classic divers on the skx007 styling. one with a blue dial and pepsi bezel, an orange version and a yellow. the pepsi and orange (sounds like sodas) are Japan made, but couldn't find a Japan made yellow version. enjoy that Amphion. i won't admit to being a bit jealous.
