I will not use a professional vocabulary. I will not use any measurements. My comparison to other devices will be scarce (well I have only one more DAC/AMP - Audinst Mx H1 - which I have used extensively for over five years). I will only write what has changed subjectively for me when it comes to hearing the music.
First, my headphones setup: - Fostex th-00 mahogany - Sennheiser 650 - fiio e12a as an amp - audinst mx h1
I ordered Dac 80 mainly to use it in my headphones setup, and I was expecting something huge to happen. Well, something happened, but it didn't live up to the hype I imagined. There was an improvement in what I heard but slight, and I had to listen to hear the differences. (I have burned it in for about two days) I thought: Hm, let's try it on my speaker setup which is Marantz 1070 and Kef IQ5 and also Audinst mx h1
Wow, was I in for a huge surprise. It was a real game changer! Everything has improved. The sound has become more full, more dimensional. For the first time, I felt like friends with the singer. My speakers have entirely disappeared. I was next to the artist. I might even say, that for the first time music was playing straight in my soul instead of going through the ears. It's that good. It feels that the whole set up has opened up. The highs are sweet, mids are full bodied and bass, omg the bass! You can hear in your lungs. It feels like it is more round, full, going deeper. It is not more of it; it is not bloated. It's just different; it's better.
So why wasn't I blown away with my headphones rig? Well, I think that with great dac and excellent headphones, I need to upgrade the amp. Fiio e12a is a great little device. But it has no soul. Do you understand me? So when you buy this dac, just makes sure that you have a great amp that will compliment it.
To sum up. I was happy with my audinst for five years until I've listened to this. It was worth every penny!
Now I need another one for my headphones as this one stays with the speakers :)

PS? I have no issues with the Dac. I downloaded drivers from Optoma page, and it works. Build of this thing is great with one exception - the volume knob. I hate it ;) It feels flimsy, plasticky and basically doesn't fit with overall build quality.
