Has anyone run into stability problems with their DAC80? Randomly not being recognized by Windows? Blue screen of death? Freezing playback? Anything like that? I've been having random stability issues since I got it (no stability issues with my system before the DAC arrived) and I'd like to know if it's just me or not so that I know if I need to simply return it or if a RMA might lead to a functioning DAC.

Dreams-VisionsDid you install the correct Windows driver downloaded from the Optoma website? Also, the DAC-80 seems to run best in WASAPI mode. I use JRiver MC 21 player software with no problems; check your settings! Remember, the DAC-80 only works up to 24bits/192kHz.

gkrrI did, yes. I've gotten 8 or 9 blue screens since adding this DAC in March, after not having any in 2 years of ownership of this computer. I have an older Nuforce Icon HDP DAC that I had been using for 5 years and thought I'd upgrade to this one. I'm not happy right now. I'm looking at either a refund or exchange for a refurb (for some reason, Nuforce doesn't have any actual new stock? Only rerurbs).

Dreams-VisionsWOW, that's a lot of blue screens!! Maybe try un-installing the Win USB driver, then re-installing it. But it looks like you may have gotten a lemon. I would try to get a refund, since you're probably always going to worry about crashing again. I have two DAC-80s with no problems, but I have NO patience with things that don't work first time, every time! The DAC-80 is good value budget Dac/Pre. but not a game-changer! Lots of choices in the $300 range.
