Would it be possible to connect a high-end DAP such as the Questyle QP 1R to the NuForce? It has a phenomenal DAC but I would like to have more authority for the bass which I think the HA-200 would have for my Hifiman HE-1000.

ProfbratschYou could using a 3.5mm headphone to RCA cable.

famish99Thanks, famish99! I did know about the interconnect need. My concern was more about the statement about that it was necessary for the DAC to be balanced. I am not certain whether the Questyle is balanced.

ProfbratschI think a minority of the buyers here are buying for balanced operation (I did commit to a pair though, but that's because most of my headphones have been recabled for balanced operation); a single amp works fine for single-ended operation.

ProfbratschQP1R is not balanced but to be honest not all DAC's that have XLR balanced outputs are truly balanced by design either. However it won't work with this amp not if you wanna use it via XLR. They also have a rather mild gain, so they could use more input voltage which once again a DAP usually can't provide. I would strongly recommend a DAC with a preamp function [though it's not mandatory]to be used with these amps. Just my opinion.

TheHunThen it sounds like I would be better off to go with something like the ALO Continental V5 or Cavalli Liquid Spark for my application-once they come out. :-)

ProfbratschYeah those are portable amps if that's what you're looking to get that yes the Nuforce isn't for you.

TheHunI could have gone desktop, but from what you say the voltage mismatch (I would have used the RCA option) would be a deal-breaker.
