I got my HEM6's yesterday. Despite I feel there is no point to it, I did burn them in for about 6 hrs on loud pink noise.
The IEMs have a huge bump in the 200-400hz area. Speaking for rock music (Classic rock) - Snare drums are monstrous. A peak in 200hz seems to cause this. Guitars are muddy. Vocals are muddy in low notes. All music sounds like 70s Punk.
The only redeeming quality is the 10k region is very pleasing and there is no 6k harshness that some IEMs have.
This is not a balanced set of monitors - the build qualityt seems fine and it does come with several tips, but the sound is lacking for IEMs that are priced around 250usd.
Online reviews said they were a bit "too warm" for some people. These are not warm. Warm means a soft bump in 500hz and a little dip around 5-6k. Hd650s are warm.
These are so pumped in low mids that they mask almost every other part of the frequency spectrum.
Will not probably buy again from nuforce.
Doesn't sound quite right. The "too warm" feeling is caused by a so called damper we use - which basically removes some of the sharp edge from high frequencies. This has nothing to do with the low frequencies.
What source are you using? Do you experience the same with both cables? Braided shound sound slightly more balanced, mic cable a bit warmer and bassier.
While it can be argued how effective the burn in is, we do recommend burning in for 50-100h. Please use preferred cable (mic or braided cable) to do this. After burn in you should find that the sound is more open, less muddy, more dynamic and overall in more control.
Lastly, are you located in the USA?
Hopefully we can find a way to help you.
Several sources: iPhone, Fiio amp, dragonfly dac, Universa Audio Apollo audio interface, RME fireface audio interface..
I am a professional musician and I know my way around headphones and their frequency responses as I use several sets to check mixes.
Compared to other headphones at similar volumes these in ears are pronounced in the lower mids (200 to 400hz) that make them barely tolerable to my tastes.
Thanks for the offer but I’ll be selling these if I can.
I am very sorry to hear this. Please let me know if we at some point you're willing to give us another chance.
If you ever have an opportunity - please listen our HEM4. It might be more to your taste.
