What the heck are you supposed to do with it after 500 charges?! Throw away and get a new one? I would be very glad if someone would explain it to me...

megical_bananaAny sort of rechargeable battery would die after a certain number of charges--power banks, rechargeable AAA's and etc. Get something like the Metro Vacuum DataVac if you want a longer termed investment.

megical_bananaThe manufacturer offers a lifetime warranty on the ESD model, so as long as the company is in business and you bought that model, you don't have to worry about buying a replacement battery.
Else, you can always try to get a new battery before the 5 year warranty is up on the other models. If you have problems after 5 years, you can always disassemble the housing and remove the batteries if they are dead and replace them with new ones. Just look on ebay for cells of equivalent voltage and current and mount them in. I repaired a handheld drill this way. Just needed a soldering iron.
And honestly, 500 charges is A LOT. I have charged mine only 3 times so far since I used it extensively on cleaning the computers and things in the garage the first week I got it. It will take A LONG time to reach 500, possibly a decade to be honest.
Anyways, hope that helps your battery question.

Max_PowerThat's true, but those who work in the field might be using it multiple times per week. The benefit here is that it's portable without a connected adapter upon charge. If you have a workshop that portability is not necessarily needed.

CridoleThe reviews on Amazon are riddled with people who have had issues with these. I wonder if they have a quality control issue.
