Support for Alternative Layouts
This is a summary of how alternative layouts have been supported by kits such as Colevrak and Homing. It is not a discussion of alt layout performance and development, but if that interests you I highly recommend starting with Pascal Getreuer’s A guide to alt keyboard layouts (why, how, which one?). Else, you can always try to get a new battery before the 5 year warranty is up on the other models. If you have problems after 5 years, you can always disassemble the housing and remove the batteries if they are dead and replace them with new ones. Just look on ebay for cells of equivalent voltage and current and mount them in. I repaired a handheld drill this way. Just needed a soldering iron.
And honestly, 500 charges is A LOT. I have charged mine only 3 times so far since I used it extensively on cleaning the computers and things in the garage the first week I got it. It will take A LONG time to reach 500, possibly a decade to be honest.
