Wouldn't Chromexcel be a poor choice for belt material due to its relatively greater propensity to stretch over time?

cjyhoI've made a few belts out of chromexcel. Over a couple years any stretching has been minimal in my experience. As long as it's a decent thickness you should be fine. Bridle or harness leather is obviously tougher but you shouldn't have a problem with chromexcel.

cjyhoI’ve had a chromexcel belt for several years now. It stretched out initially about 1/2” just like most of my other belts. After that initial stretch, it’s held it’s length and been great.
It does scuff and show scuffs more easily than other leathers, but it also heals them better with a bit of rubbing.

cjyhoI've experienced more stretching with my "vegetable tanned" leather belt than my Chromexcel one.
